Engaged & Underage
Did anyone see the episode from Monday night? It was two 19 yr old girls who were getting married..it was so strange and I thought that it would never work - I remember being a 19 yr old girl and all the drama that went along with that...
Anyone see it?

Re: Engaged & Underage
I saw that episode (I think I saw the preview last weekend). It is crazy...and it didn't really seem like they have the foundation to make it work.
And I just wonder (for most of these underage couples), why not wait? What is the hurry? These girls are living AT HOME in the childhood bedroom of one of them, living with her parents! Why not wait a couple years when you have an income and can afford to be independent?
It's such a contradiction...They want to be treated like adults, and yet they have no money and must sponge off of their parents for everything. And complain about their parents when they won't give them everything they want!
I just couldn't help thinking that they came across as not knowing anything about how to make a marriage work, or what marriage entails.
At one point when they were fighting one asked the other "Why are you with me?" and the girlfriend replied "Because I don't want to be alone!" DH and I were both like and the other thought it was an acceptable answer and hugged her and they made up! Marriage is not an answer to you being lonely...It's a lifetime commitment!

OMG! I know...when she said she didn't want to be alone, I thought the other girl was going to get PO'd and walk out of the room (with good reason) and instead she hugged her??? DH and I were like
ETA: I think that episode made a joke out of what all of the other young couples were trying to prove. It was so clear that these girls were not mature enough to understand what a marriage is. I felt like I was watching two girls having a sleepover. It was just weird.

That's exactly what we were thinking! We're thinking, oh, they're done, and instead the other one is thinking that's great!!!!
