english paper piecing... who quilts and has tried this?

i can't sew to save my life, but i love it.

my grandmother was a seamstress, my mother is a novice... and i can't sew a straight line to save my life.

i've just discovered the concept of english paper piecing!

it seems so cool, easy, and portable!!

has anyone tried this? how easy is it?

i can see many a crazy-quilt in my future Chat Icon

Sell the fabric don't touch the hobby!

Re: english paper piecing... who quilts and has tried this?

OK, Im totally going to try this!

Did you see this, even less sewing!!!

http://suedaleydesigns.typepad.com/my_weblog/2010/03/i-love-sewline-glue-pens-and-a-tutorial.html

Only downside I see to this is I would have to figure out how to back a quilt! Im totally going to do this though! They have great bundles of scrap fabic on etsy.

OK, I bought my supplies, they should be here any day now! Such an inexpensive hobby to try! If I dont like it, Ive barely spent anything!

You could definitely do this with other shapes as well, dont you think?

Re: english paper piecing... who quilts and has tried this?

her technique seems very easy, she only cuts the paper into heaxgons, not the fabric.....saves you some work.

YAY! Are you normally inclined to sew? I have all of my stuff ready to go, I was going to start last night but was sidelined with a migraine! Just curious if itll be just as fun for a novice sewer like me, LOL!
Definitely post pics~

Start, it is so much fun! I am a sewer, I am not great but know a little, I can machine sew a little too. But this is not hard, anyone can do it! I will post pics tomorrow, I should be home all day. I want to see other pics too!
