Re: ER tonight.. not really spoilers
I really liked it!!!
And I totally got the sense that there could be a spin off at The Carter Center. I thought it was good. They had 2 hours to tie it all up... and I think they did a pretty good job. I've been watching since the beginning.. I took a break in the middle for awhile, but I kept up with it for the most part. I think people who've watched it from day one would enjoy the last episode more than people who picked it up towards the end..
And holla to Rori!!!!!!!!!!!!!! LOVE LOVE

I really enjoyed it! As a long time watcher, I enjoyed seeing the old familiar faces- the nurses you hadn't seen in ages. And I totaly recognized Dr. Greene's daughter when she walked in.
This episode was what I loved about the show. It wasn't about tying up loose ends for the recent story lines. It was showign that life did and will go on for the people who come through the place. To me, it was an homage to the long term watchers. Showing some oldies, some new ones, and some potential new ones. Carter's marriage wasn't tied up in a bow. Corday and Benton didn't hook up. Its was never like some other shows where the episode focused on one issue and resolved it.
This was my thought, too. I didn't mind so much that they didn't tie up all the loose ends, because that wouldn't have been in keeping with the show's style. I agree that it shows that their lives go on after the show, and that's enough for me.
I will admit that I'm bothered by the lady who started rejecting the heart, and not knowing how that ended. And the whole thing with Carter and Kem--I get the feeling she is too far gone and will never be the same, therefore things will never be the same between the two of them. I'd be willing to bet that she vanished without a trace the next day.

it was just so DULL!
No indication of how life goes on... the show was supposed to be about the DOCTORS, not the patients - and I feel like the last episode just negated the concept.

Re: ER tonight.. not really spoilers.. nevermind.. SPOILERS
I am so happy I am not the only one who found it didnt live up to my expectations! I was so disappointed. I got the symbolism of a lot of it and that was sweet BUT they didnt tie a lot up as someone else said. So much focus on other story lines and then they just leave it like that?!?! I mean I didnt even understand some of the patients reasons for being there. The elderly lady, Beverly, what was the point of her entire story???
I was prepared to cry...it sounds depressing but I was ready for it. I feel like it could have been more retrospective in a way. In my opinion, the first hour with the interviews was the best part.
AND..was I the only one who is slightly annoyed at the fact that George Clooney didnt say a thing during that interview show?? You got your start on ER..and you couldnt come back for that show?? I mean, I know he came back for the other one, and I still LOVE him..but it ticked me off a little.
Ive NEVER missed an er episode, from the very beginning. My heart and soul went into this tv show as silly as it sounds..and I just felt like they owed us more last night.
The saddest part to me, was when they played the theme song in the beginning and end. No matter what though, it is over and than in itself is heartbreaking. Farewell ER.

Re: ER tonight.. not really spoilers.. nevermind.. SPOILERS
i stopped watching the show several seasons ago, i didn't rally like the direction they took when carter left...
that being said, it was nice to watch it last night to see the old/new characters but all in all, it wasn't a great episode. definitely not good as it was hyped up to be!
i'm glad i can say i watched the last one but i don't feel like i would have lost out if i missed it.

I couldn't agree more. This was one series finale I actually LIKED!

I agree as well. As much I would've liked to have seen how Carter and Kem's marriage turned out and how the mom with the heart transplant did, I understand that they did the finale the way they did to show that life goes on. It lets us come to our own conclusions; I want to think that the mom lives and their marriage lasts (I like happy endings) so in my mind that's how it ended. As for the teenage girl with alcohol poisoning, not knowing how she turned out was the whole point. I think they did that to show the audience what alcohol abuse can do, to be left without knowing the outcome is so common in real life so they protrayed that by leaving it open. They put it all together when there was only a few minutes left to the show and a major emergency was on its way in, they were showing us that the ER will continue the same as it has for the past 15 years; and as a faithful long-time fan that was comforting to me.
I loved the ending when they were all standing out in the bay and the camera panned their faces, it was like a TV version of a curtain call. I also loved seeing the theme song in the opening and closing, and how they included the old actors along with the current ones. I've missed that song in the past few years and was so happy that they brought it back for the finale.
ETA: For those who missed it, you can watch it here.

Re: ER tonight.. not really spoilers.. nevermind.. SPOILERS
I just finished watching it and I have to say, I've watched since the 1st day it was on and I was pretty disappointed.
Like the OP said...what happened with the woman and the heart!!?!?? They spent, what, 3 weeks, with her and we have no clue what happened?
I felt that they spent way too much time on other stuff and didn't do a good job focusing on, what I thought, was important stuff.
What happened with Carter and his wife?
I thought it was a very strange final episode.
Yes, I could possibly see a spin off with the Carter Center.
But over all...I have to admit, I was disappointed.

But George Clooney didn't get his start on ER - he was well known on the soap network for GH, I think, plus he was in some movies/made for tv series before ER began production. ER just made him more well known.

I don't think he was ever on General Hospital but he starred in a sitcom called E/R and had recurring roles on The Facts of Life, Roseanne and Sisters.

This happened quite a few seasons ago. Carter's wife, Kem, was pregnant and when she went to deliver their son was stillborn.
As for Kerri, Laura Innes was actually starting to have problems with her back by having to walk with the cane like that. So the writers had Kerri undergo surgery to fix her hip so that she would be able to walk without assistance.

Did something go on with Benton and Elizabeth way back when? (I was only an avid ER watcher in the beginning.) It seemed to me like they were trying to make it a little awkward between them, but I could be totally be making that up! :)

I enjoyed the last episode, although I was wondering why they didn't really finish the story line with the lady with the heart. I did like how they didn't end things - that life goes on. I got all emotional over the theme song in the last scene. DH said he heard that there is going to be a spinoff with John Stamos.
ETA: Found this about Dr. Tony Gates spinoff

Yes I believe they had a relationship way back when. Or they dated. Something like that.
Yeah they dated before she got together with Mark Greene.

That's intersting, I really didn't think they'd do a spin-off. I'm afraid it will flop like so many other spin-offs but I'll give it a try just to see what it's about.

I havent watched it in awhile so i was lost with a lot of the story line but i didnt really like the ending. I was like.... thats it? The theme song in the end was very sad and i liked how they brought Dr. Greens daughter back. The part with the mom who had the twins had me in tears.

I didn't like it. I just think it left to much open. I prefer seris finalies that tie up loose ends and give a sense of completion. Very dissapointed in this.
