Ever been unhappy with a haircut but didn't speak up?

I spent 3 hours at a salon last night. I wanted partial highlights and a great cut.

I have fine hair, not much to it at all. The highlights came out ok. Not exactly what i envisioned (they are wayyyy too subtle can barely see a shred of difference) but i can deal with that.

The haircut? I said i wanted to go shorter and not see as many layers. (I had the last girl give me so many choppy layers and i waited months for it to grow out more..)

When the girl was done, i swear it looked as if not one 1/2 inch was cut. What she did i think, was the cut the upper layer i had and not really touch the bottom. I was there for SO LONG and was so tired that i just paid and left. I did tell her "it still looks long,no?" and she goes "oh no i took off like 2 inches back there, you can totally tell..".

What is wrong with me that i can't speak up?? I want it much shorter so these layers aren't so drastic. It's starting to look a bit florence henderson, lol. I have the one layer at my chin and then the next is inches below that. It makes my hair appear MORE thin rahter than adding depth.

Should i call today and say something?? I paid over $100 for everything and thats a lot of money for me right now..

Oh I totally understand that! It's just that i not only gave her a picture (just a shorter cut, medium length i guess) and told her that i wanted my hair more even than layered...it was way too layered to begin with, so i wanted the top most layer to not be touched, and the bottom cut so it was almost even with the top layer...
She did pretty much the opposite, lol.

It looks ok. I did comment when she was done that it looked long and she was insisting that it wasn't. Annoying.

I will call today and see if she can just even it out...

Thanks!

Yes, I have been unhappy with color and a cut and not spoken up about it, but recently I have been much better about speaking up.

Yes, and I speak up. It's never been for the cut (knock on wood) it's been for color. Where I have gotten home and I'm like really, my head needs a toner. I call them back up and tell them and they say come on back down. They shouldn't let you leave the salon not looking your best Chat Icon

I was unhappy with a cut once and it was butchered. I didn't speak up and hated my hair for months.

Then when my old hair guy went darker than I wanted for color (against my wishes) I made him fix it a day later and then never went back to him. I learned my lesson. Better to be happy.

LOL!

Seriously i'm confusing myself now.

OK..seriously..this is how i basically said it:

Chop it off. Make it all one layer. As best as you can. Nice and short.

LOL!!!

She chopped off hair on one layer only and left the other one long. So it looks, well, not great.

On my way to get it fixed!!

I had my hair colored and it so didn't come out the way I wanted- I wanted it deeper. I thought about it for a day or so and finally I gave in and went back and they re-did it without a prob. Especially with hair care being so $$$, you should get what you pay for.

I am a hairdresser and I can tell you that communication is the toughest part of cutting hair. You said that you brought a picture thoughChat Icon so if you wanted it just like the picture there should be no issue with communication. Anyway, luckily it is longer than you wanted. Just call her and tell you that you want it shorter. It really is NO big deal. Tell her that you are growing out your layers and want it to be all ONE length. You paid a lot of money and deserve to be happyChat Icon
