Ever have a yellow jacket nest in your house/ apt? Or needed an exterminator?
DH and I just moved into our co-op in August and just now it comes to our attention that we have a yellow jackets nest in the eave of our attic!!
I have never had an issue like this before. Has anyone else? Are they easy to get rid of? When you have the exterminator come is it usually a one time process...or have you ever noticed you needed to have them come back again because the bees have moved to a different location or that he did not kill them all? Im so skeeved out and am really paranoid that he will not get them all. Is there anything you can offer advice or tips on for me to ask the exterminator so I can make sure he does a legimitate job?

idk how safe it is for indoor use, but what about a smoke bomb or something and try to smoke them out...

If there aren't any in there you can douse it in kerosene or WD40.. it'll make sure that they stay away.. But I would get rid of the nest either way. GL!

We had a nest in our basement a few years ago. I wouldn't mess with any chemicals, call an exterminator. I think it cost us $250 he sprayed it with soapy water and removed the entire nest and plugged the hole outside where they were coming in.

What exterminating company did you use? I would like to get price quotes because I called Orkin and they said it would cost $375 for them to come in, inspect my attic and treat the area. Which I dont know if thats alot or a little.
We had our co-ops maintence exterminator come today and he was a joke! DH said the exterminator stuck his head in the hole where we saw the bees said he saw like "3 stragglers" sprayed the fluid and told us if it happens again we will have to have the maintence guys come back and pull up the insulation and floor boards to find the nest! Seriously??! Im paying $700 a month for things like this to be taken care of and thats what I get?

We had a yellow jacket nest in the wall between our MB and roof near where we were sleeping.
We used Arrow Exterminating.
Here is the thread: I hate bees!

You should def. use an exterminator. When you call, make sure you tell them you would like the nest removed as well.
$375. sounds way too high. I used to work for Parkway Exterminating Company on Jericho Turnpike. I feel like I promote them, but to be honest they are very good. You should check them out.

Re: Yellow jackets nest in your house/ apt? Or need an exterminator? *Updated w/vent*
Thankx for the advice and for the referrals. I called Arrow and they provided me with a better price than orkin. I will give Parkway Exterminating Company a call today.
I have a feeling it will be coming to using an outside exterminator. Our maintenance exterminator came yesturday, sprayed and was gone within an hour. He sprayed the one area where we saw the bees, and that was it. Needless to say I wake up this morning to find one in our kitchen window. I dont understand how a coop corporation can make you pay $600 a month and not even provide you with legitimate maintence men?
