Everyone Is Freaking Out Over This Video Of Mariah Carey’s Live Vocals “She can’t sing anymore!”
Mariah Carey took to the stage in Japan on Saturday night, to play the latest gig in her Elusive Chanteuse World Tour.
However, a video from the show has now gone viral, with fans blowing up Twitter accusing Carey of being unable to sing any more.
The video shows Mariah appearing to struggle through some of her most successful hits, including “Hero”.
And it wasn’t long before some of her biggest fans took to Twitter to express their thoughts about her performance:

The performance follows a tumultuous time for Carey, after she reportedly split from her husband of six years, Nick Cannon. However, a representative for Carey has dismissed the negative comments, telling The Mirror: “The comments we have heard from fans have been great!”

I'll always love her.
Truth is, they are right... she can't sing anymore, hasn't been able to for quite awhile now.
But this is sad for a few reasons:
It's sad she lost her amazing talent because she was awesome.
It's sad that here she is... putting on a show for her "fans" and is actually trying to sing unlike ahem britney... who people love her performances... but she could never sing and never really tried live.. always uses backing and tracks and lip syncs... and yet people are attacking mariah. (granted maybe she should lip sync at this point but i like her integrity at least).
Julie Andrews couldn't sing anymore. It's so sad. These great vocalists who lose it. It's just that Mariah still wants to and shouldn't be at this point.

Do you think it's stress from her divorce or something? I know Whitney Houston lost hers but I thought it was from of drugs and not taking care of herself...can singers really just lose their talent without a medical issue?

i wouldn't say she can't sing anymore. she can't hit those high notes anymore. which is totally normal after 44 years of singing. i used to sing in HS and 15 years later i can't hit the same high notes anymore.

Not really. If you are taught to use your voice properly you should never loose it. She always sang in a very unhealthy way in my opinion. My guess is she probably has/had nodes on her vocal chords.
I've been a professional singer for years and have seen lots of people screw up their voices with bad technique.

I don't think she just 'lost it' - I think maybe she is no longer able to just get out there and belt it anymore w/o some serious rehearsal ..........now that she's a diva, she doesn't have to 'practice' ......and she's NOT singing like she used to and using her voice regularly -
That was pretty uncomfortable to watch -
