Everyone please secure your furniture

My nephew is 3 years old and he pulled his dresser onto himself yesterday. Luckily he is fine. We don't know how because my SIL said that he was totally under the dresser but somehow all he got was a bruise and a fat lip.

He was trying to be a big boy and get himself dressed. He pulled out the bottom drawer and climbed on it so that he could reach the clothes on the top. The dresser came crashing down onto him. My SIL was in the next room when she heard a huge crash followed by tremendous screams.

They have every piece of furniture secured except for the dresser. So please, please, please learn from what could have been a tragic mistake and secure your dressers and everything else into the walls.

I'm not trying to scare anyone but I just felt like I had to share this story.

THis is why we screwed all heavy furniture to the wall. My son loved to climb into the armoire.

Thank god he is ok!!! We haven't secure our furniture yetChat Icon and I have heard\read about many sad stories about dressers falling on top of infants/toddlers and killing them. I really have to get on my husband's A$$$ this weekend to do secure our dressers. It is so scary, especially now at Andrew's age he is so curious and fast.
