excessing
Hi all- so I haven't worked in the public school setting since 2011. I am thinking of applying to get back in- i have certification in multiple areas including math/special education. Is excessing still a very real thing in 2014. Back when I was working everyone was very anxious and we're getting pink slips. Just curious about the current climate.
thanks!

it's better then 2011 but still an issue depending on the district.

Its definitely still an issue -- especially in districts with decreasing enrollment and the budget tax cap.

i agree... and also, even a district is NOT excessing currently, if there are any openings due to retirements or higher enrollments, they have to offer it to the excessed teachers first before a completely new hire.
