exercise and pregnancy
Who kept exercising in their pregnancy? At first, did you do the same as before? If not, what did you modify.
For those who stopped exercising in their pregnancy - when did you stop?
Thanks.

Re: exercise and pregnancy
Haaaaaaaaaaaa... exercise??! No, really, I was an AVID, AVID, AVID exerciser before pregnancy - I worked out at a minimum 5 days a week, for an hour, or an hour and half, and that's been my routine for a good 5 years now. I was CONVINCED I would keep it up, but once the morning sickness hit me, I just couldn't do it. Also, I just didn't have the energy, and I was sooooooooooo nervous to raise my temperature too high because I had a miscarriage immediately preceding this pregnancy. I did continue to walk the whole pregnancy though - at least 3-4 times a week for a good 45 minutes. I kept that up most of the pregnancy until the now, because my Dr. is concerned about premature labor.

Re: exercise and pregnancy
I worked out at a gym for a few years prior to my son at least 5 days a week. I was in excellent shape, but when I got PG, by the time I was 8-9 weeks I stopped completely because within the first 30 seconds of trying to do cardio I couldn't breathe. I was soooo out of breath. That made me nervous along with reading so much on the internet about miscarriages and stuff I was too scared to keep at it, so I completely stopped. Boy was that the wrong decision. I gained 65 lbs when I was PG. Though most of it was my belly. Also, my son was a big boy when he was born so that didn't help!
When we have another baby, I'm going to try really hard to continue doing something. I don't think I'll feel safe doing weights anymore though, but some kind of cardio probably, and hopefully not gain that much weight again!
Good luck!

Re: exercise and pregnancy
Well, I had every intention to keep going to the gym but the morning sickness (or all day sickness) has kept me from doing anything. I am just too nauseous all the time to even think of going to the gym.
I am hoping to go back after the first trimester - at least some walking and yoga.

Re: exercise and pregnancy
I have been exercising, I wear a heart rate monitor and don't get above 140, it's actually harder to to get higher now anyway... I also lift lighter weights and do more reps.

Re: exercise and pregnancy
I used to run before my pregnancy, but as soon as i knew that I was pregnant I stopped it. Since then I have been walking and riding a stationary bike around 3 times a week.

Re: exercise and pregnancy
I worked out before my pregnancy, the first trimester was scattered. I felt good at first, but then weeks 7-10 I had all day long sickness, so I didn't even attempt to go to the gym. The past two months I have been good-about 3-4 days a week of spinning, walking, swimming, weights, and prenatal yoga. This past monday ( I will be 20 weeks tommorrow) I found out I now have "restricted activity" for the next 4 weeks- but walking and swimming are still ok and no weights over 10 lbs. I just feel better about myself and people keep telling me its good for labor.

Re: exercise and pregnancy
I've always worked out so I just modified my workout when I found out I was pregnant. I wear a heart rate monitor because I can really push myself sometimes and that keeps me in check. I still workout 4-5 times a week. As I progress in my pregnancy I'll probably reduce it more, but at 17 weeks now I feel awesome!
