Walking to start... use any excuse you can to take the stairs (NOT the elevator), or walk instead of hopping a bus/train (within reason of course) and get your metabolism jumpstarted
Beyond that... I have to force myself to hit the gym in the new year, and I have the same problem you do (getting home usually close to 8pm) Maybe you could try working out before heading to work?

I would also say add walking as much as possible. If you take the bus or train, try to walk to the next stop, or the one after before you get on. Or, get off early and walk the rest of the way to your destination. If you aren't exercising at all now, Don, anything you do will help!
I also have these DVDs called Walk Away the Pounds. It is sort of a walking in place routine that you can do at home. DH laughed at me a little when he saw me doing them, but then he tried it and he actually likes doing them too. You can also add weights to the workouts to make them a bit more intense. I like them b/c I can do the walking even when it is cold and dark outside, or if I get home late.

since my job as the gym in the building, i go before work. i'm there at 7 and workout until 815 then hit the showers. like felicia suggested, can u go before work. even try walking during lunch

So do I.... the 1 mile is only 20 min. It's great if you want to get a quick workout in.

My DH does tae jitsu. I was thinking about taking it up myself. They do a lot of physical conditioning in addition to learning the moves. He finds it to be a great workout.
Also, lots of gyms have sports conditioning and "boot camp" classes, which sound fun to me. I can't do tradional aerbics type classes- too clumsy!

I go to the gym in the morning before work. I love taking spin class. My gym offers the class at 5:45 am. If u are a morning person--early is the best time to work out.
