Exercise, sex, and other good things.
So yesterday after I reached rockbottom and called my midwife group about possible ppd, I got to thinking about how for the past 4 and 1/2 weeks, I haven't really exercised, I can't have sex and have pretty much been stuck inside except for visiting my parents 3 miles away. I got out shopping a few times and it felt great (especially buying cute girly clothes) but I was used to excercising, riding horses (which I did until 30 weeks pg) and of course being intimate with DH.
I wonder if maybe once I begin to do the things I miss so much, maybe I will feel better. Maybe I am in such a funk because I have been deprived of the things I really enjoy. Maybe I am not that far gone if I WANT to do the things that make me happy. I just can't do them yet.
Monday is my 6 week visit (a week early because the peds are in the same office and I tried to coordinate both appts on the same day). Maybe once I get the green light to resume my favorite activities, I will start to feel better.
Sorry this is so long, sometimes I need to think outloud so to speak.

I'm sure you will feel better after you get the green light. I know I did. The warmer weather coming has helped me too.

You will feel better. You were so active in a different way than you are now. Now its about the baby and that can take a toll. I know for me I was used to coming and going as I pleased now I cant with the baby. I used to go to the gym, go to jazzercise, just get up and go to the store, go out to get something to eat, now I cant go and just do those quicky things anymore. with the nicer weather I def got out more which was great but its not the same!!!!! For me BF made me feel even more like I couldnt go anywhere too. Im glad my supply ran out. Getting up to pump every 2 to 3 hours and trying to BF to only resort to the bottle b/c not much was coming out to feed her, was stressful and I cried. I bet when you get the green light to live your life again, you will feel better.

It is such a huge adjustment when you have a baby that in a split second with that one final push, all of a sudden your freedom is gone. Things that were so easy and convenient to do, like going to the gym take a back seat. But after those first few weeks/months things do go back to a similiar kind of normal. Plus. once the summer comes and you can go outside you will feel like a different person! Hang in there and do simple things like taking a bubble bath with a glass of wine...it will make you feel like your old self again.

I made the mistake of being almost totally housebound for the 1st 2weeks. Once I started getting out more I started to feel normal again.

It sounds like youre understanding your feelings, your thoughts and why you may have ppd (and maybe not)..
I think it's a great starting point that you recognize what youre missing and what will get you back to your old you. It's TOTALLY normal to get in a funk and feel out of the loop on even being yourself.
It sounds like you'll do great in getting yourself back to what you need to be happy. and dont you dare feel guilty for a second that you want all these things, happy mommy makes happy baby! youre entitled to everything that will make you happy.
