Experience with tubes - under 1 year?

The ENT wants to put tubes in Emma's ears. She had ear infections since she was 2 months old... and this last one is going on a month long and antibiotics are doing nothing.

My question - What was your experience... Even if your DC was over 1.

Re: Experience with tubes - under 1 year?

My son had tubes put in when he was almost 15 months. Prior to that he had about 10 ear infections, mostly double. He was on medication constantly and the side-effects from all the antibiotics were awful.

We just went for a 6 month check up last week and they are still in.

The tubes have helped him so much. I was very hesitant about the procedure, but it was very quick and he was home running around by lunch time.

Please FM me if you have any specific questions.

My son had tubes put in about a week after his second birthday because he would constantly get colds and it would go right into ear infections, double and it would be really bad with high fevers that would last for day.

The tubes stayed in for over a year and they were a godsend. He really didn't talk to much because the doctor told me that what he heard is comparable to being underwater. The day he came home from the hospital he was running around and chatting.

I will be honest though they eventually fell out and not this past summer but the one before that they had to be put back in along with his tonsils being taken and adnoids because they were constantly swollen. He is like a new child. Any questions feel free to ask.

I had the exact same thing done when I was about 2. I had the tubes put in and my tonsils and adnoids take out. All I know is that my dad says it was the best decision he ever made. The only thing I remember is having the swim with a cap on that summer. Hope that helps.
