Expired Medicine
My asthma is really acting up and I need to use my nebulizer today.
I have albuterol to put in it, however, it expired 5 months ago.
Is it okay to use still?
TIA

Re: Expired Medicine
yes its fine. we send expired meds to 3rd world countries all the time and it works just fine for them. I took ibuprofen for a headache the other day that expired 5 years ago and it worked fine, LOL.

Re: Expired Medicine
I'm not a doctor but I would use it. I use albuteral and so does my daughter. I don't think it's a medicine that goes bad. Call your ped if your nervous about it or the pharmacy.

Re: Expired Medicine
I would use it. I spoke to a pharmacist once about expired medicine and he told me they have to put dates on it just so they know what to send out first, but it doesn't go bad.

Re: Expired Medicine
The problem with expired medication is it can start to lose its effective. So if you find it is not working as well time to get a new refill. The only expired medication you have to worry about is antibiotics. Some of them can make you violently ill if you take them after the expiration date.

Re: Expired Medicine
Sadly I'm cheap, I use expired medication, but just stuff like tylenol and motrin. It still works fine to me

Re: Expired Medicine
Thanks...looks like i'm going to be using it on my lunch break.
The worst feeling is not being able to breathe.
I'll call for another perscription anyway, but for today, this will have to do!

yeah, expired medicine won't really make you ill. it just loses it's effectiveness after time.
