Explain why we should all be getting vaccinated?
Seems like it's pointless at this point if you are going to be forced to test regardless and still wear masks.. Waiting for others to follow with the mandates.

Explain why we should all be getting vaccinated?
Significantly reduces chances of hospitalizations and death, which is the main goal of all vaccines. Less stress of healthcare system.

Re: Explain why we should all be getting vaccinated?
Because you are high risk and have not had Covid
You work in an environment or your day to day has a high risk of exposure (see above)
You have not had Covid and not sure how it will effect you, you’re scared and the vaccine can offer you a higher protection against hospitalization or possible death
You want to travel
Work is trying to mandate it
You live with elders or high risk individuals but your lifestyle puts you at high risk of exposure

Right. Masks and testing are not important reasons to get vaccinated.

Not really a reason, I’m not going to rush out and get the vaccine after having Covid because a hospital in Arkansas is filling up with children. And for me definitely not a reason to give it to my healthy son.

Yes, children can and will get sick. I just don’t like info thrown out there like this as it evokes fear and doesn’t tell the entire story.

The more people who are vaccinated the less of a chance there is for the virus to mutate again. Just look at our area compared to someplace like Arkansas in terms of COVID transmission. Even if you do catch it and are vaccinated you will likely carry less of a viral load to get yourself sick and then pass to someone else.

That’s is why I strongly believe you should get the vaccine after weighing the risks and what works for you personally. Not because the government says so, because people are bullying you or for the good of man mind. Majority of People who are getting vaccinated are doing it for themselves. The “its not about me, it about the greater good” is bologna. People are doing it for themselves, it just sounds nice to say that.
The above reasons I listed are my opinions based off the research and data. If breakthrough cases are not leading to hospitalizations then the vaccine is doing it’s job.
I had Covid, it was mild and I didn’t need to go to the hospital. I decided the risk is not worth me getting the vaccine right now. My stepson has chronic asthma has not had Covid, doesn’t have a history of heart issues, works in a restaurant, based on the research we thought it was best for him to get the vaccine. My son takes medicine that may cause heart issues, he has a strong immune system and didn’t contract Covid when we had it, in his case I feel like the vaccine poses a greater risk for him.
It’s a personal choice and honestly people don’t even have to be so strongly opinionated or @ssholes on either side of this. With my family it’s a case by case solution for me. I don’t understand this all or nothing approach.

Right. Masks and testing are not important reasons to get vaccinated.
Yes, those are two lowest priority reasons to get a brand new, rush to market vaccine for me. Even the traveling one is low.
I said I may get the vaccine to travel, but I also know that is not a good reason to get it and I would just be doing to make it easier for me. It’s like I know that’s a stupid reason to drive me to get the vaccine but that may be what makes me get it. Lol.

Question though on travel- where do you need the vaccine to travel to? I have friends who have been to the Caribbean recently and no vaccine required. Obviously you don't need it for US travel. Are you talking Europe? Is their a vaccine requirement for there yet?

I was more generalizing why I would get the vaccine and one of the reasons is travel because I love to travel. I think it’s mostly Europe or cruises. We were thinking of going back to Bahrain this winter and we would definitely need the vaccine to travel there. It probably won’t which is why I have not gotten the vaccine.
Also my offices which opened two weeks ago are mandating masks for everyone.

Yes, but breakthrough cases will, for the most part, not pose the same risk as for those who are not vaccinated. The risk of severe illness, hospitalization or death is much lower in breakthrough cases - so there is still a reason that the vaccine is worth getting

Yes - 24 children. In two hospitals. In a state that isn't known for healthy living and I believe doesn't have a high overall vaccination rate.
I am all for people's right to choose being vaccinated. I have friends who have attacked others for not getting vaccinated not even listening to their reasons and it's maddening.

3 people who work in my building currently have symptomatic Covid & they were all fully vaccinated in April/May.
One of my coworkers’ Brother in law passed away from Covid a few days ago & he was fully vaccinated as well(& relatively young).
I’m finding this all very terrifying. What’s the solution if vaccinated people are getting sick & dying? What else can we do?

That is very sad. Everyone should have an opinion and an option to get this vaccine. No one should be berated and I have to tell you from reading news sites online, there is such a huge divide and the media makes it worse as they put out stories, everyday, multiple times a day to pit these people against one another.

Explain why we should all be getting vaccinated?
While this Delta Variant is much more contagious and has been increasing, there has been far fewer deaths. When you consider that deaths were originally higher in the elderly and compromised people, the overall death rate is now much lower. Presumably, because this group has a high percentage of vaccinations. This is my explanation why people should get vaccinated. (Notably, there are exceptions, as DrPepper pointed out)

It is everyone's right to chose to be vaccinated or not. With that said, the reasons people should get vaccinated is to protect yourself and those around you. Especially those children that are unable to get vaccinated at this time. I would like to get back to pre covid life if possible and I do not see that happening if people refuse the vaccine. I understand those who cannot get the vaccine due to illness; we can protect those by vaccinating ourselves.

Keep in mind that vaccinations are a layer of protection; not a cure. There are going to be vaccinated people that do get sick and some may die. Some may get the vaccine and that dose was compromised by human error or by other ways. It happens. Again, it's a layer of protection for the peril of CoVid. Seat beats are a layer of protection against auto accidents but people still die in them even if the numbers have decreased dramatically since it became a law in most states. Birth control is also a layer of protection against getting pregnant and STDs but it still happens even with use of such.

And they know how to handle this virus better than they did last year so that is why more people are being discharged from hospitals.
