Exterior Shutters w/ pic
We are going to order exterior shutters this weekend. The raised panel style:
This is what the front of our house looks like. We're just getting them for the 2 windows on the right
The windows measure 53" in length. The shutters come in standard sizes of either 51" or 55".
Now my question - Do we go shorter or longer than the window?

Re: Exterior Shutters w/ pic
Ours are a little bit longer than the window
I would go with the 55" ones and have themextend one inch above and one inch below

I would go longer. Since they will be 2" longer, you can position them to be 1" higher on the top & bottom of the window.

Re: Exterior Shutters w/ pic
Thank you ladies.
Now looking at the picture I posted, I may have no choice but to go shorter. The bottom of the window just touches the brick front of the house.
I guess my decision has been made for me.

This is the way it is preferable to be, just the length of the window.

If your window measures 53, then get the 51 for sure and most likely center it and it will be perfect.

I think we went a little longer. Such a small thing and it made such a difference to the front of the house!!!
