Exterior Window Plant Shelf

Does anyone have something like this on their house?

I am thinking of adding it since we are not going to able to do siding for a few more years. So adding black raised panel shutters and thinking of building a shelf but not this paint it white for under the window.

I'd rather do something like this : windowboxes : to keep any pots from falling over in a good wind.
