Eye Watering like crazy?
Both my kiddies have bad colds, complete with fevers and coughs.
My 2.5 year old..her right eye is watering like crazy, like she's crying but she's not, it's not red or pink and the liquid coming out of it is clear.
ANyone have any experience or insight?
My PED office is closed for lunch

Re: Eye Watering like crazy?
DS had a clogged tear duct when he was a newborn....now at 18 months his eye does water and sometimes gets gooey when he's sick or teething. Pediatrician has seen his eye multiple times in this condition and has always said it's just a result of congestion...so there's some back up with the duct.
Clean with warm water on a soft cloth...no rubbing because it has the potential to get irritated and possibly infected. Eventually the tears do crust up so just keep it clean.
It doesn't bother her, right?

thanks so much It doesn't seem to be bothering her, she wipes the liquid away with her sleeve every now and then. I haven't touched it at all cause i didn't know what causing it and didn't want to make it worse
Should i do inside eye outwards to clean it?

With warm water I first gently wipe away what I can easily remove and then with a clean section of the cloth just gently massage the corner (where the duct is).
It's hard not to go at the eye to clean it perfect but the doctor told me it's better to clean often and get what you can rather than rubbing one time to get it all...that can irritate it.
Since your DD has the tears I would just gently wipe every so often with a warm cloth (but not too wet cause she'll want to rub it dry)
