I just joined, and reconnected with some people I haven't seen or spoken to in over 20 years. So, that could be a pro or a con. But so far, I like it.

Me too...I'm pretty new on there as well and am so happy I did. I am back in touch with 2 friends I lost contact with a few years ago. I'm so happy we're back...

I "own" one of the LIF Groups. FM me your full name and I will "friend" you then invite you to join the group. I can only invite friends (not sure why they do it that way  )
Once you FM me, I will FM you back my full name

I got sucked in spring of 2003 back when facebook was only open to 10 colleges, students only, no pictures, no news feed, no applications -- it was a totally different animal.
It's amazing how it's morphed into something so different now, but alas I am still hooked. 
It's a great way to keep in touch with friends and former classmates, it's fun to see what they're up to, where they live, see their wedding pictures, etc. The morning after my wedding my friends already had non-pro pictures up on facebook and DH and I were able to see them at JFK while we waited at the gate for our honeymoon flight.
Cons are that it can be a big time-waster and if your friends aren't on all on it (like mine are) you might not see as much of the appeal.
Give it a shot!
