Factor 5?

I had bloodwork done at the RE....said I have a mutation for Factor 5, which can cause clots. Not the reason for my mc, but if/when i get pg again, I have to take levenox (sp?)

Apparently, its not that big of a deal, but I never heard of it. Anyone else have experience with this?

Re: Factor 5?

My best friend has this. She had no idea during her first pregnancy and all went well. Her sister was diagnosed, which prompted her to see a doctor before getting pregnant again. I believe she has the heterozygous (?) form which is the milder one--once she became pregnant again, she had to take aspirin each day and she had a successful pregnancy.

Oh yes, and a girl I reconnected with on FB also had this unaware--her first pregnancy was uneventful, second one she lost pretty late. She was then diagnosed with the more severe mutation and took injections for her third pregnancy and delivered a healthy boy just recently.

Re: Factor 5?

I don't have factor 5 but I was on Lovenox during my pregnancy with my DD and have to be for any future pregnancies as a precaution for clotting issues. For me, it's two injections daily, not pleasant but not the worst thing in the world either.Chat Icon
