Failed 3 hr GTT. Any advice?
So, I failed. I had a bad feeling, as I felt I was at risk for it. I'm seeing a nutritionist, obtaiing a home glucose test monitor and then a follow up to see if the diet they give me works.
Can anyone else share their experiences, or give some tips?
Thanks.

Yes, it's not the end of the world.
Don't sweat it and just try to cut down on the sugar and carbs.
I hear stress can sometimes exacerbate the problem and you may not even have GD. I know I didn't but was diagnosed with it anyway 'cus the OB wanted to err on the side of caution ...

Re: Failed 3 hr GTT. Any advice?
It is not as hard as I thought. I am actually eating more each day. You are even allowed sweets. Just not what I normally would have.
My challenges:
Remembering to take my blood 2hours after meals. I have to set alarms so that I don't forget.
and Breakfast. Never liked breakfast foods. Prior to G.Diabetes, I would eat breakfast but I guess it wasn't a healthy one.
Good Luck!

Re: Failed 3 hr GTT. Any advice?
I was just diagnosed myself and I have an appointment on Friday with the maternal fetal specialist. Its been hard especially since I have a sweet tooth. Saturday, I saw my ob and she told me a few things of what I can eat and not. She said to eat more fruit & veggies. Apples are good, bananas are bad. Since I don't like cooked veggies, its a lot of salads and raw veggies. Brown rice very good to eat and it helps fill you up. Popcorn is good too. I bought the popcorn kernels that you pop yourself. Its easier to control the salt than with regular microwave popcorn. She told me to stay away from fruit juice, but if you do have it, dilute it with water. Basically, it has to do with a lot of balancing.

Re: Failed 3 hr GTT. Any advice?
Thanks ladies.
I'm optimistic about starting a diet, as not only do I want whats best for "beepy" and me, but this time of the year is dangerous from a weight gain perspective for anyone, let alone someone in their 3rd tri. My weight gain has been at a nice pace, so it would stink to blow it all now. People who have been on GD diets do say how much better they feel, so again, I'm going in with a positive attitude.
Anyone else?

Re: Failed 3 hr GTT. Any advice?
I was on an insanely strict diet (no sweets whatsoever!!), but in the end, it was not that big of a deal. and it kept my weight gain down considerably. It was the healthiest that I've ever eaten, which was great for the baby. Hang in there, it's really only a few weeks.
