We really loved the Club Med in Punta Cana

I'm definitely interested in both of these places! Would you guys mind telling me a little bit more about each place? How's the food, accommodations, kid stuff, etc ..? How was the travel to and fro? If you wrote a review already, you can just point me there as well. Chat Icon Thanks so much!

Here is my review post from when I came back: Punta Cana Club Med

Food was VERY yummy. In fact, on the way back we traded stories with other people on our plane who stayed at other resorts in Punta Cana and they were all complaining about their food, but the food at the Club Med was very good.

The accomodations were a little on the rundown side, but while we were there they were renovating all the bedrooms so I suspect by the time you get there you would be in a new room. The advantage is even in cheapest room, it has a separate little room with a daybed for baby/toddler with two doors that close so you have some privacy.

The facilities otherwise, in the resort, were GORGEOUS. They have two main restaurants - one was totally open and right on the ocean. Sooooo nice to eat lunch next to the crashing of the waves Chat Icon

Kid stuff is typical of Club Med - they have GO's all over the place, that are really just glorified counselors and their job is to entertain the kids. They have an absolutely phenomenal daycare on the premises, right in the middle of the resort, and the kids have a slew of activities. At night they have shows and games just for the kids, and live music in the bar every night. Alex stayed up late every night to go "dancing in the bar with the boys" and to watch all the shows.

The activities for adults were pretty damn good - tennis, sailing, windsurfing, exercise classes, dance classes, you name it, they had it. They also have excursions, like diving, for an extra fee. The only issue with the water sports is the water was pretty rough when we were there in March - we toppled over quite a few times in our sailboat.

Travel is as easy as it gets - the resort is literally 2 miles away from the airport - no commute whatsoever.

Now, there is ONE drawback and that is that most of the staff, at least when we were there, is french speaking. And the week we were there in March was the french holiday so most of the guests were french as well. They tended to be rude to us when we started talking Chat Icon both staff and guests. BUT, a few days before we left all the french guests left and were replaced by british, canadian and american guests, and a whole bunch of new english speaking staff members came on board. The resort changed, literally, overnight. I think they bring in extra french speaking staff to accomodate the french guests during the french holiday. So I guess it really all depends on when you get there.

Hope that helps!Punta Cana Club Med
