Family friendly day activities in Upstate NY?

We are going up to the Cortland area (Norwich,NY) to visit a friend on Saturday. We're staying in that area overnight and would like to do something with the kids on Sunday.

It would be great if it were holiday related- but not necessary. I have an almost 3 yr old and a 1 yr old.

I'm considering driving to Sesame Place, but looking for other options that don't take us too out of the way. So- anywhere between Long Island and Cortland.

Thanks!

Just curious why you would go to Sesame Place which seems VERY out of the way between LI and Cortland???

I live in the Hudson Valley and can give you some suggestions for that area but I'm not familiar with the Cortland area..sorry.

Hudson Valley would work Chat Icon

I was thinking Sesame Place because we have little ones- they have a holiday thing going on. I figured we'd drive the 4 hrs there in the morning and then it's only 2.5 hrs home from there.

There was a Groupon for it (which sold out) that gave me the idea.

Thanks!

ETA: depending on the route- We could cross through Jersey and Northern Pennsylvania (I-80)

If its along the route, then it makes sense, I have never been to the Christmas at Sesame though.

Around me, we have Frosty Fest, Holiday Spirit festival, and further north Howe's Caverns.

Thanks! The Frosty Fest and Spirit Festival look cool. Have you ever been to them? IS one better than the other?
