Family name personalization on cookie jar
Hi, I'm getting a cookie jar personalized like this: The Smiths
Do I have to put an apostraphe s for it to read: The Smith's
what is the correct grammar for this?
BTW this is the website I'm looking at for some holiday gifts. Really great stuff!

Re: Family name personalization on cookie jar
Does it say
The Smith's Cookies?
or just The Smiths?
The difference is if it says cookies, lol. Because then you would need the apostrophe, if it doesn't have the word cookies (or something else) after the name, then you won't need the apostrophe.
Although, I guess it would depend on how you look at it... With the apostrophe, it's possessive, so it would make it The Smith's (cookie jar/cookies). Which technically is correct. Without the apostrophe, it's just saying The Smiths. As in, that's their name...I think either way would be correct.
I probably confused you even more. Because I am definitely more confused now! LOL
