Family Room Remodel June '09 Update -with Pics (with Question)
Family Room Blog Pics
We are getting there.
I'm still deciding on the color for the room. The question is this. What color would you paint this wall? It's the wall that goes right into our Foyer. This is a Hi-Ranch, so it's all open to the LR/DR/Kitchen area.
Here are more pics of the area, so you can get an idea of what I'm talking about.
In this pic, it's the wall the furtherest away on the right. That is the staircase area.
Closer
The wall in question
The staircase area.
OK, so the staircase area wall is BM Carlisle Cream (light beige) & the LR/DR/Kitchen that is right upstairs is all this same color.
The family room is going to be mostly beige and one accent wall that will be a blue/green color. I'm trying to pick a beige that is darker then the BM Carlisle Cream, so there is a contrast. So of course I have to repaint the tall large staircase wall the Carlisle Cream, but should I paint that other wall to the staircase the new beige that will go in the Family Room? I hope that makes sense to everyone. Any other ideas?

I'm not sure what you should do with the paint, but the room looks great!

It's getting there Jen!!!!!!!!
You really could do either. We were kinda debating something similar with our foyer and hallway (since they are two different colors but kinda share a wall at the top of the stairs). We ended up using the foyer color up into the hallway on one wall only. You can definitely see a difference in the colors but it's not very extreme and I don't think most people even notice it. How different is the carlisle cream from the other color you want?

I was thinking about Bleeker Beige
Carlisle Cream Not that big of a difference on the screen, but I think in person (at least on my walls), the Carlisle Cream is lighter.
Valspar - Beach House is the accent wall. It's a blue/green color
The Bleeker Beige I think has a Grey undertone to it and the Carlisle Cream has more of the pink undertone I think.
Sometimes I drive myself nuts with the little things. I guess I just wanted the Family Room to be a little different from the upstairs area, not a continuation from upstaris. KWIM? I hate decisions.

I agree, those colors don't look all that much different to me on screen. If it was me, I would just stick with the same color (Carlisle Cream) for some continuity.
I love LOVE the blue/green color. It reminds me of the room we stayed in when we went to Newport RI. The accents for that color there are just white, but there were beachy accessories like seashells, starfish, etc.
I think it's time to break out the Photoshop and "paint" the walls in the picture.

I agree with keeping it the same color. We did an accent wall two shades lighter and you really can't tell. So it really won't be much contrast at all. Especially if they're on the same paint chip/chart thing.
