Family winter vaction..Lodge/Resort ..Need advice/recc's....

Looking for a resort style accomodation for a mid week stay in Feb. I think we'd like to drive, so 5-6-7 hours most from NY ...

Want there to be some snow activites...Geared towards or have family activites and a Spa ( or near by Spa) ..

Looking for a room with a fireplace and nice view and fairly large...

TIA for suggestions!

Six Flags Great Escape by Lake George is somewhere I'd like to go in the winter. They have an indoor water park so you'd be able to enjoy both winter outdoor activities as well as come indoors to warm up as well. Think it'd be fun for the family.

What about a place like Sky Top Lodge in the Poconos? I went there with my family years ago but I know a few people who said they went with their children in the past year or two and had a great time.

There is always Mohonk.

I have never been there but heard this place was nice:

Or what about the Onmi Mount Washington Resort

I totally hear you on that. They are gorgeous but most are so much - at least the ones with the more exciting activities. I hear even great wolf lodge that isn't cheap to begin with just raised their rates even more!

We just came back from Great Wolf Lodge. It's $$ but depending when you go (off kid's school vacation) you could get a great deal.

That place looks amazing.....Drooling....

But the smallest room we'd fit in is over $750 a night plus taxes, thats WAY out of my budget.

Darn really?

I used the book now last night on the website and for 2 adults 1 child, 5 nights midweek in jan it was saying like $2200 and that had some kind of deal for $100 a few days credit towards dining or spa (breakfast is included in the room price)

I thought that wasn't too bad (better than mohonk), but I don't know what size room it was for, probably the smallest

This place is awesome. About 4.5 hours from NYC. No one knows about it so it's quiet and not overcrowded. The indoor water park/lodge just opened up this year I think. Brand new and fun! The skiing is great too.

We have used bonus weeks for our timeshare and stayed at this place in Virginia called Massanutten- it's about 6 hours though. We've never been during the winter, only fall and spring, but the units (depending which on you book) are pretty nice and have fireplaces, many have jacuzzi tubs. We always get two bedroom units and have stayed in the Woodstone section and the Summitt. They also have a nice, new spa and an indoor water park. They also have a lot of activites throughout the day. We usually go for DH and his friendws to play golf, but they do have skiing and tubing right there. If you are interested, check the rates online and then FM me. I can then check the dates on my timeshare's website and see what kind of rate I would be bale to get you.

We go to Smugglers Notch every winter. They have all sorts of accommodations for just about every budget. There are family activities all week long and it is about a 5 hour drive (we take the ferry though to cut off driving time)

I was going to suggest here. We went last march I believe and had a nice time. Even thought it was unseasonable warm the wekeend we went, they had tubing and then hot coco on the mtn, it was so much fun for the kids!

We just came back today from an overnight trip to Six Flags Great Escape by Lake George. The lodge is really nice and the waterpark was warm and not too crowded.
