Re: Farmingdale School District
I grew up there and I bought my house there. I really like the schools. Farmingdale is a wonderful community to live in. Let me know if you have questions about specific streets or sections, I would be happy to help.

Re: Farmingdale School District
thanks everyone. I loved the neighborhoods we looked at and have never know anything good or bad about the schools.
Now I just need to convince DH that the train commute isnt any worse than where we are now (Lindenhurst)

Re: Farmingdale School District
I live in Farmingdale, but am just TTC now. My children will more than likely go to Farmingdale Schools. From what I've heard, the school district has significantly improved. My DH grew up in Farmingdale, but lived in the Half Hollows school district so that's where he went. Just check to see which school district the homes you're considering are in. By the college is Half Hollows, as that's where my DH grew up.
As for the train commute, it's no worse. If anything, you're a couple of stops closer to the city.

Re: Farmingdale School District
I went through the Farmingdale Schools, and graduated Farmingdale High School in 1998. I was extremely happy with the education I received there

You did??? I graduated in 99.
I think it was great school too. It is very diverse more so now than when I went and I think that is a good thing.
Where is the house you are looking at?

I think the train ride is better from there. It might be cheaper too. Farmingdale is zone 7.

Re: Farmingdale School District
I am a teacher in the district, and if I had children, I would send them there. Some of the elementary schools have better reputations than others (among the teachers, anyway!) but the HS and the Middle School are great. Really large sports program, involved parents, tons of electives / A.P. classes at the high school, and a really top-notch music program that starts in the really early grades.
You can FM me if you'd like any more specific info.

...and I graduated in 2000!
We bought a house in Farmingdale (Woodward Pkwy section) and love it! No kids yet, but I will probably send them to Farmingdale.
Best of luck with the house!!!

Re: Farmingdale School District
I live in the Woodward Parkway section. We just moved here almost 4 years ago and we love it. The pre-school that we send our son to is wonderful. I'm really glad we decided to move here. I'm sure you'll love it too!!!
