Fasting before 1 hour glucose test
With DD, I failed the 1 hour, but passed the 3 hour. That time, I didn't have to drink the drink for the 1 hour. I just went in and they drew my blood. For the 3 hour, I was told to fast.
I'm seeing a new doctor and she is having me drink the drink 1 hour before the blood draw.
Those who have had the drink for the 1 hour: were you told to fast beforehand? I'm going to call my ob to check, but I'm just curious what you were instructed to do.

I was told to fast for 8 hours (maybe 12?)
And you didn't have to drink the drink at all the first time??

For mine i was not told to fast. I was told to eat normally.
I had a small breakfast before I went. Like a hard boiled egg.

Fasting before 1 hour glucose test
I did not have to fast. I had a 3pm appointment for my 1 hour test so I had eaten breakfast, lunch, and a snack by the time I arrived at the office for the appointment. I passed no problem.

Nope, no drink for the 1 hour last time. I only had to drink it for the 3 hour.

This is my third pregnancy but the first time that I was told to fast. I always fasted before the glucose test because I heard so many stories of people eating before the test and failing. I would rather be safe than sorry!

I did not have to fast before the 1-hour. I've never heard of NOT taking the drink for it though... isn't that the whole point??

Haha that's what has me so confused! How do you fail if you don't drink the drink? I guess they just took the fasting number?

Yeah, very strange.
I did not have to fast. I did get a call when my OB got the results bc they wanted to make sure I had the drink. Apparently the results looked like I may not have which I don't if is is good thing or not.

Yes the drink is the point of the test. It's not a glucose test unless you have the glucose.

I was told not to eat two hours before the 1 hr. test. I ended up going first thing in the morning though so technically I did fast from the night before.

Yes the drink is the point of the test. It's not a glucose test unless you have the glucose.
Lol, for the record: the ob I was seeing when I had the 1 hour during my first pregnancy was an idiot. I ended up switching doctors and had an amazing doctor deliver DD.

I'm guessing I failed because I went at the end of the work day and I'm pretty sure that was a day when I was grazing like a cow all day long. I passed the 3 hour.

I did not fast but I would fast if I did it again. While I passed the one hour, my number was borderline high and I think it had to do with eating cereal shortly beforehand.

I didn't fast. I was told not to eat for an hour before taking the drink
I had a low carb breakfast. It was 2 years ago so I don't remember what but think it was a egg cheese and. Yogurt
I passed with flying colors

I just had the one hour last week and was told not to fast before test. I passed! I ate a few walnuts and drank a bottle of water before i went in first thing in the morning.
