Fat girl in a running store
I am fat but I really need a new pair of new sneakers. I am not a runner by any means- but I plan to restart the C25K program (I did it once before I had 2 kids ). I have some foot issues and would really like a recommendation for sneakers based on my feet and what I plan to do (C25K, maybe some Zumba classes, workout videos, walking)
Will I be laughed out of the store if I go in? I feel like people will be staring and laughing.

Re: Fat girl in a running store
First congratulations on making the decision to get back into the C25K program and adding other work outs to your plan.
Second, you will not get laughed at. On a whole, especially if you go a running store for the sneakers I find the running community to be super supportive and encouraging. You will not be laughed at, instead you will probably get a ton of advice on doing the program with whatever foot issues you have dealt with.
good luck!

Re: Fat girl in a running store
Not at all . I am not really a runner but I do excercise quite a bit and I think it is great when anyone, regardless of their size or shape, takes a step in a positive direction. Who is anyone to judge? Best of luck to you and don't worry about what anyone thinks, this is only about you!

Re: Fat girl in a running store
def not! not sure where you are, but if you are near sayville, go to the sayville running store on main street..they were so nice in there and they have a machine that you stand on to check how you put pressure on your feet and they get the right type of sneaker for you..hth

Runners come in all shapes and sizes! Nobody should look at anyone differently regardless of race, size, sex, etc. in a running store!
