Our anniversary and DH's birthday always fall around Father's Day, which definitely makes it easy.
For our anniversary/his 30th, I bought us both SCUBA lessons to finish our certificaiton.
if not for that, I would have gotten him show tickets or some kind of electronic gizmo, like maybe an iPad. You really can't go wrong with gadgets for most men

I'm buying DH the stand for the mini weber grill he has for our boat. I need to figure out something else also. I also need to figure out something for my dad too.

Here's another idea I JUST purchased for my DH's birthday from Living Social. It's a set of monogrammed spa robes for $79 or you can get 1 for $49. DH has been wanting one since we wore them on our honeymoon and it just happened to pop up now:

Dh is getting a new hat, dress shirts, and two ties. My dad is getting a polo shirt,shorts, and an oven mit for the bbq. My FIL is getting two dress shirts and an oven mit too.
