Re: Father's Day weekend... what'cha doin'?
I ordered my dad a zero gravity lawn chair. They have 2 & love them...this one is a little bigger, padded & has an attached tray with drink holder. We’ll be BBQing in my parents backyard. We still stay apart & wear masks when we have to be close or go in the house to use the bathroom.

BBQ and don't expect to wear masks or distance. Didn't last weekend and if you want to hang out, I expect you are on the same page.

Same. I'm not wearing a mask in the heat in my own backyard. Just walking to the car just now from the store I was dying. My hand were full so I couldn't rip it off the minute I got outside the store like normal. It's getting hot out... We've been seeing my family for weeks now every Sunday though so we're all on the same page.
As far as gifts- got my dad some of his favorites- beer, nuts etc. Will probably get a gift card as well.
DD went with me to Target to pick out gifts for DH-since there is no school Father's day boutique this year. It was really cute how excited she wsa.

Very cute. Older kids. One gave me money towards a gift and I will get cards from me and the one without a job/unemployment lol. No fathers left so we just get together for the day with no gifts, just food, drinks and the pool :)

Father's Day weekend... what'cha doin'?
Finally after 4 months of isolating, and not seeing my parents, FIL or anyone, I am having a BBQ at my house with my parents, FIL and BIL and his wife and kids. I see how much this has affected my family and my children and I can tell everyone’s mental health is eh. My mom and dad had covid at end of May/ early June. The doctor said they are no longer contagious but I’m still so worried. I will have separate plates, sanitizer and no one is allowed in my house unless it’s to use the bathroom which is right by my back door and I’ll clean after each use. I may be extreme but I just worked through hell the last 4 months in the hospital. I’m mentally drained and this whole thing has my anxiety at 110% but I’m trying, for my kids, my husband, my family. I know they need this and while I’m going to be a basket case and could probably do this another 6 months, they need this. So I’m limiting it to 2 hours will sanitize everything. Im hoping I’ll be ok, I really want my husband and kids to see everyone but I’m so distraught so please say some prayers for me!

Everything will be fine! You are taking more than the proper precautions. Have a glass of wine and enjoy yourself - you deserve it, too!

Seems like you are doing all the right things. I believe the infection rate is lower than it was back in March, so it is not so prevalent. Enjoy the time. It feels so good after physically spending time in the company of others. Happy Fathers Day to all the men

It’s definitely lower! I think all the anxiety and PTSD from working in the hospital during this is coming out! I will try and enjoy the day! Thanks!

Re: Father's Day weekend... what'cha doin'?
My DH wants to stay inside and chill. Yea, cause we haven’t done that in awhile
But it’s what he wants. In his defense, he has been out working this whole time.
Eta: I bought him the Nike Apple Watch and made crockpot chili last night.

Relaxing inside sounds wonderful today! We have a BBQ to go to too. It's going to be awful. Every year the family gets together at one persons house. DH's brother and SIL (the hosts) and her family stay inside almost the whole time pretending they are prepping things in the AC while everyone else is forced outside (they cater all the food, so how much prepping do they really have to do?). Lots of pool chairs, but only 1 small table with an umbrella. So I'm forced to sit in the sun for hours. I always make sure we are late lol. I hate going, but it's DHs family and the only chance for the kids to see their grandparents on Father's Day. This is ********. I hate sitting in the sweltering heat.

True, I guess he is on to something. I’m went to get him Dunkin’ Donuts and it’s hell out there. You ladies are right, per usual.

Lol only because it's just so hot today. If it was a nice day, I'd def want to be out doing something fun. I just get so cranky when I'm sweating lol. Every year it seems like it is intolerably hot on Father's Day. One year it rained a little and that was glorious because they ended the BBQ early lol.

We transported a dog to his new foster family this morning. Now my husband is power washing the deck and I'm hiding inside in the AC.

Father's Day weekend... what'cha doin'?
We went to the beach, and then had dinner out. It was such a great day!! We left for the beach at 8 am, got there shortly before 8:30, and had no problems getting in. Stayed until 2!! Came home, showered, and went to a restaurant in New Hyde Park for an outdoor dinner. Then when we came home the kids ran around with the kids next door while the adults hung out. It felt- dare I say it- normal.

I have to say this weekend was the most normal weekend we have had in months. Beach, dinner out, bbq with family. All of the exact things we were doing last summer. The only difference was the dinner was outdoors but to be honest Saturday night was such a nice night I preferred eating outside. I cannot tell you what this has been doing for my mood and my mental state! After so many months, I am not waking up every morning with a pit in my stomach and a sense of dread.
