Favorite Cooking Wines
I ususally just throw in whatever I'm drinking at the time I was wondering if any of you have any standard favorites - white and red.

Re: Favorite Cooking Wines
if it isnt good enough to drink then it isnt good enough to cook with is a saying i have heard.
but onthe other hand, alcohol gets cooked off so cooking wine would be suitable.
i usually just use whatever i have open; waste not, want not...

Re: Favorite Cooking Wines
We just use the cooking wines from the supermarket. They are easily resealable for storage and since I don't use wine while cooking that often, I don't want to waste a good bottle.

Re: Favorite Cooking Wines
I am new to cooking, and only really like White Zinfandel, but when I have questions like these I ask my DH who is a partner in a company that owns 70 restaurants. He said the rule of thumb when cooking at home is to cook with the wine that you are serving with the meal. It will help keep the flavors consistant.
