Favorite kind of food you don't have often enough?
OMG, last night DH and I went out for Indian.
Several years ago, I used to live in Queens and would rotate between this and sushi most nights.
Now it's such a schlep to have to DRIVE to get Indian.
It's so good though.
What's your fave that you feel you don't have that often?
Doesn't have to be from a restaurant either.

Cantonese food. Not the americanized chinese we get here in NY but real Cantonese. I still dream about some of the dishes we've had

Ethiopian. I used to have it when I lived in Boston but have not had it in years cause I don't know of any on LI and I am not in the city for dinenr much any more.

Turkish food and great dosas...it's hard to find great dosas, even in Queens.

Good pancakes.
My mom made the best, and sadly, I don't have her recipe and can't replicate them. They were almost crepe like, but not as thin. Filled with blueberries or sliced apples, they were so good.

Mexican.
The Germans have terrible Mexican food.
Good Burgers. They also can't cook burgers. We have just found a great place that does burgers, but it's kind of out of the way.

I don't eat lots of foods that I love because they are bad for you. Basically, cupcakes, cookies, chocolate full fat ice cream and anything fried would be eaten all the time if it were possible !

SUSHI - it's SO DARN EXPENSIVE!
And just seafood in general. I love me some lobster!
Steamers! Haven't had those in years.
GOOD BAGELS & Pizza & Italian bakery cookies (man, I miss NY!)

IDK where in queens you are, but check out Kebab House on N. Blvd, 2 blocks east of Little Neck Pkwy for amazing Turkish food ;)

Same here! There is a great place where we used to live in Brooklyn, but it's such a PITA drive. Also, DH recently told me he is starting to get sick of Ethiopian food. I almost cried.

Totally...also great vegetarian food. When I lived in Chicago, there were tons of vegan/veggie restaurants.

Me too. DH isn't a huge fan and I am not great at making it at home so I usually only get it when we go out.
And even then, I don't like to get it unless it's a real seafood restaurant- which we rarely go to .
