FDA is reviewing their position re: artificial food coloring

I know that Easter is around the corner. I wonder if this is just coincidental.

I remember when they said to avoid red, and then red m&m's came back.

if anyone is a chemist or food chemist I'd be interested in knowing what amount of spinach to make green could be harmful. I know there are vitamins and minerals which cause toxicity at certain levels...just wondering how many m&m's you'd have to consume to OD on folic acid.

My nephew is very sensitive to the dyes in food so is his father.. I truly believe there is a link from experience..however im sure there are some kids who aren't sensitive.....Go dye free!!!

thanks Linda. I try to avoid them as much as possible...I just find this a bit odd....the switcheroo and the timing.

It's about time they review this, not sure about the timing thing though. I try to avoid dyes, preservatives, things with ingredients I can't decipher on my own, etc. I think that the FDA needs to do more research on many of the ingredients in our food, and change their stance from thinking something is safe until proven dangerous to making sure something is safe before allowing it in our food.
