It depends on your contract. When I first started having problems with them I was told it was $10 per month left on your contract.

When I was finally fed up with them and wanted out they changed the story and said that on my particular contract it was a $175 fee.

I finally got out of it (only a month early) with no fees because they weren't willing to work with me and I continued to call and hassle them.

Re: Fee for coming out of contract early - AT&T

I thought my contract now but it doesn't end until December.

We want to get my daughter a cell phone for her elementary graduation. I was planning on switching from ATT to Verizon and getting the family plan. Everybody I talk to is on Verizon so I figured it would save me minutes because Verizon to Verizon is free (I hope I'm right).

Now I don't know if I should just stick with ATT and add my daughter to that or pony up the penalty and switch to Verizon.

I am pretty sure if you add your daughter's phone to your account, it will restart your contract for another 2 years.

Maybe get her a pre-paid phone to use through the end of your ATT contract and then get a family plan with Verizon?
