Feeding Issues
I am breastfeeding and formula feeding dd. I try to alternate feedings as much as possible but I am not sure she is getting enough milk. Anyway, in the hospital she was on similac advanced. she would do a bit of gagging when we gave it to her the first few days but the ped said it was ok. We came home and she got better at feeding with formula. We burp her every 1/2 oune to get rid of gas bubbles because she is a big gulper whether it is breast or bottle. Yesterday, she very forcefully vomited all her bottles not the breast feedings. We took her in to the dr and she actually gained weight. He said we could try switching formulas and i switched to the isomel. So far everything has been ok....no vomiting but still kind of gassy and lots of hiccups. I am trying my hardest to bf her as much as possible but i don't think I have enough milk to satisfy her. Does anyone else have experience with this? also, does anyone have any advice on things that may work for the hiccups? and......how much more water are you drinking with the breastfeeding?

Re: If you had to, ow soon after coming home did you have to change formulas?
My DD was in the NICU for 8 days after being born and was given my BM via bottle. When we came home she was getting 1/2 BM and 1/2 Similac Advance Early Shield. When she was 3 weeks old, my ped changed her formula to Similac Sensitive RS due to excessive spit up, gas, fussiness and reflux. She has been on it for almost 5 weeks now. She still spits up a bit but she isn't as gassy. HTH!
ETA: My DD hiccups a lot too. Our ped said it was fine and not to worry about it. When I was BFing I needed to drown myself in water to keep my supply up. I think a lot of moms drink a bottle of water every time they feed their DC or pump. I would drink as much as physically possible! Good luck!

Re: Feeding Issues
My DD gets the hiccups and several people reccommeded Gripe Water. It is a miracle!! Within 2 sips, the hiccups are completely gone. I give her only 2.5 ml but even half that amount works wonders. It works for tummy aches, colic and hiccups. It's made by Little Tummies.
When I was BF and pumping, I drank about a gallon of water daily, it really helped. I would sit and pump with a huge glass of water, that was the way I remembered to drink the water.

thanks! i noticed the other day when i drank 3 bottles of water during a feeding an increase in my milk. i have to get religious about it. i think i need to pump my leftbreast too...dd seems to prefer my right one, i think i have alot more milk in that one.
