Feeding twins.
My twins are 3 weeks old today and are eating about 3oz every 3-4 hours. But I notice that one of them could sleep longer than the other by an hour, but I like to feed them on the same schedule.
so my question is did anyone ever have this situation?
I usually feed one and then have to wake the other one up to eat just to have them on the same schedule, I wish they would both sleep the same so I could sleep too instead of having to wake the other one up.

Re: Feeding twins.
I never woke them up to feed them. The first 2 monthe the 3 of them were pretty much on the same schedule them after that 1 would sleep longer so I would just feed the others. Now they are 5 months old and they get up within 1/2 hr to and hour of each other for the first bottle and then go back to sleep for 2 hrs or so them I feed them their fruit and cereal...
It will get better and you will get to sleep......

Re: Feeding twins.
My DS always wakes up first and after he eats I wake DD. Once in awhile she will wake up at the same time.
At night, he ALWAYS gets up first and I wake her to feed her when he is done. I tried not waking her and she woke up about an hour or so later. So I basically get no sleep the nights I do that. I decided to wake her after him. She eats fine and goes back to sleep.
Also, I am a huge fan of keeping babies on a schedule during the day. I did it with my DS and he ate/slept great as a baby. I do the same thing with the twins. I pretty much feed them every 4 hours.

Do you feed them at 3-3.5 hours if they get fussy or you wait the 4 hours and let them fuss?

Re: Feeding twins.
I wait and let them fuss.....but it only took a few days of that for them to adjust to the 4 hours. I don't just leave them crying though....I will try to soothe them or distract them for that time and it almost always works. When i got them to the 4 hour mark they drank more per feeding.
At first my IL's all thought I was crazy - it it usually only takes a minute or 2 to soothe them. Once they saw how well it worked they were amazed...and my SIL did the same thing with her DS. SHe originally fed him on demand and was feeding every 2 hours or so all day/night long. Once she tried keeping him on a schedule it was a short time before he adjusted and started sleeping 7-8 hours at night.

Re: Feeding twins.
They are 7 weeks.
They were in the NICU for a week and they ate every 3 hours...the nurses there have no choice but to feed on a schedule and one nurse said to me that her biggest piece of advice is to keep them on a schedule -- you don't have to be crazy about a schedule like some people can be....but i think babies like routine. I know it doesn't work for everyone but it works for us.
At 3 weeks, the babies were eating every 3 hours during the day, they would have their last bottle at 10pm, sleep til 3am, eat and go back til 8-8:30. About 4 weeks is when i upped them to every 4 hours.

Re: Feeding twins.
I woke the other twin up always to keep them on the same schedule. Normally you are told not to do that, but with twins it's a whole nother ball game. My boys were always on a tight schedule. It's how I survived.
I also propped the bottles for nighttime feedings so only one of us had to get up and to do it as soon as possible.

Re: Feeding twins.
We kinda do a mixture. But for the most part they seem to get up at the same time and when they dont, somehow throughout the day or night, they get themselves back on the same schedule. I prefer and going forward to have them eat together, its just easier in the long run.
