Feel like an idiot-and I probably know the answer but 2 year old sleep issues?
Soooo...my kids still got a btl at night until 9 mos. Then I finally got the balls to not give it to them, they cried, I went in a comforted and after 2 nights didnt wake again. Then Ronan had back to back ear infections(which I did not realize) and I would let him CIO since he had just finished a round of antibiotics and I assumed he couldnt be sick...well I was wrong and felt like a HORRIBLE Mother. He ended up getting tubes and was fine. It really scarred me on CIO and luckily they slept pretty good.
Then in October we moved. Now Ronan has been waking up throughout the night. Not every night but enough to be annoying. They still have their binkies and mostly when he cries the binkies are on the floor. he also wants to rock and I do it for a few minutes. I am also going away for a week next week for training for a new job so if something is going to be done it has to be now. WDYT? CIO? I know I should probably take away the binkies I just don't think I have the courage(just being honest )

I agree, I think the binky is causing him to wake when he loses it and it would probably help if he didn't have it anymore.

I agree. I know you don't really want to hear that . As for weaning from the binky, cold turkey works best.

Re: Feel like an idiot-and I probably know the answer but 2 year old sleep issues?
First, I know what it's like to still have them relying on the binky at this age. DS is 23 months and still needs his to sleep. I have always had it clipped onto his pjs or shirt for naps so throwing it out of the crib was never an issue for me. If in your heart you want to get rid of the binky, then I would go full on CIO and cold turkey no binky. Yes it might succk but he'll be STTN before you leave if you start now. If you/he are not ready to give up the binky then I'd still do full on CIO but get a clip on strap for the pacifier. I did CIO with DS at 10 months and the binky falling out was never an issue because it was attached to him. Have I created a bigger problem doing this? Probably. But c'est la vie. At least in my case. Good luck!

Thank you for the advice(and everyone else too) I used to use the straps but they would actually take those off, throw them and then cry for the binky. I do def. have to get rid of them...ugh I know they need this and I really just need to buckle down and do it

DD still uses the binky for naps and sleeping and I'm desperately trying to get rid of it for her, but she's getting her 2 yr molars in very very slowly and I haven't done it yet bc she loves the binky when she's teething..so I'm waiting, but I'm planning on doing it cold turkey once she's done with the molars

It is so hard, trust me I know. When we did CIO at 9 months I threw up I had to go for a drive and leave them with DH, but it was one night and now they sleep 12+ hours.
With the binkys, they each had a million in the crib and we just took them away cold turkey at 16 months. DH did it when I was at night class. They cried for 10-15 mins he said and then passed right out. We thought it was going to be a nightmare, so sometimes they surprise you!
