feeling down
i;ve been on LIF for awhile now, but i think this is my first time posting on this group. heres my situation i was born with a genetic disorder called Turners syndrome ( basically girls are supposed to have 2 X chromosomes, i only have 1). part of this is that my ovaries are not developed, so i do not produce eggs. so, my options for IF treatment are limited. PLUS, girls with my condition can somtimes develop heart issues, so they don't really recommend even trying to get pregnant becase it could be a health risk. SO, anyway, i've know about this since i was very little, and was always pretty ok with it until recently now that DH andi have been married for a little over a year, and having kids it the natural next step for us. i always thought that i would adopt internationally, but in researching it, it seems like many countries are changing their international adoption laws and making it harder or stopping adoption to america permenantly. the most recent thing was an article in the NYT today about guatemalan adoptions and how they might be doing away with it this was the country DH and i were looking into.... i'm sorry this is long- i guess i just needed to vent because i'm having a rough day with this whole thing today....i want to be a mom, and i'm just having a tough time seeing how thats going to happen right now... thanks for listening!

Re: feeling down
This is really a hard cross to bear. I wihs you all the luck on in the world. It sounds like you are determined and where there is a will theres a way. Perhaps the girls on the adoption board can give you some advice on international adoptions.

Re: feeling down
MANY countries are going strong with their international adoptions and the new laws may open up new countries as well..although Guatamela may be effected You might want to call a few agencies to get some specifics so you can make a decision. You CAN be a mom!!! HUGS.

Re: feeling down
One of my friends is at the end states of adopting from Guatemela and says that there are rumors of Guatemala being closed but it will probably be a while before it's put into affect. Have you thought about domestic adoption? I heard it's easier...Whatever the case it will work out.
