Feeling like a bad mommy

We just got back from Jake's 6 month well visit. He is at the 75th %ile for both height and weight so doc was happy. Aside from his cold, he is otherwise healthy. We did decide to go ahead with the vaccinations. My DH and doc both were for it, so I went with it. We'll see how it goes.

Then....the doc gave us the name of a ped neurologist and said we should go for a consultation. He thinks his head is too flat on one side. He said the other doc might recommend a helmet. Chat Icon I feel like a bad mommy for letting his head get too flat. Has anyone else experienced this? What will the other doc look at? Has your child worn one? Any advice please?

We are starting to worry about my DS' falt head too. I'm not sure what to do about it. I feel like a bad mommy sometimes too but then I remember that I really have been trying to do everything I'm supposed to do, to get everything "right" and its just not possible. Don't beat yourself up, just remember that you are trying your best and can't be perfect 100% of the time.

My doctor said the same thing and we went to the neurologist. I was up all night researching on the internet-don't do that, it will make you crazy!!-and when the neurologist looked at his he said he wasn't concerned at all. I think it has to be fairly severe for a child to have a helmet, and the doctor told me when my son started rolling more and spending less time on his back it would reshape some. He was totally right and now you would never know. One thing you can try is the noggin nest, we bought that and i think it definitely helped. Good luck!

Thank you so much ladies! It makes me feel good to know I'm not the only one! I feel guilty even though I know there isn't much more I could have done. I hear you on the internet thing. I came home from the doc and cried for a little while. I wanted to start researching but DH convinced me not to. It would probably drive me crazy.
