Feeling really frustrated... is this normal?? (Starting IVF)
So we are due to start IVF this month and I am already feeling extremely frustrated and overwhelmed by this whole process. A
We go to North Shore and while everyone there has been pretty nice, I just feel like I'm having a hard time with the communication process there.
I'm sure that most of it is in my head -- I work in a sea of cubes, so everytime I receive a phone call I need to dart out of the room quickly before everyone on my floor knows all of my business, and it seems impossible to actually speak to someone when I phone the office, I'm always directed to a voicemail -- but is this normal?
I work in Midtown and the thing I am the most nervous about is just finding the time to get to all of these appointments. I know that so many of you reading this are thinking, we're all here for one reason and we need to do everything we can to reach that goal, but does anyone else feel extremely stressed out about all of the appointments and the complete lack of control that you have (or maybe it's just me) in making them re: times, dates, etc.??
So sorry for this vent, I know that it probably sounds like gibberish, but I'm just feeling really overwhelmed, frustrated, and uncomfortable about this whole process, and it has barely started yet.

I went to North Shore too and remember that at the beginning I was really overwhelmed and felt like I didn't have a lot of info. I posted about it on here and someone said that the way that they like to do it is to give you a little info at a time so you do not get overwhelmed. As time goes on you will know all that you need to know.
I did not do IVF, but they were very accomodating about making appointments around my schedule. I even went to see my doctor at his other office so that I wouldn't have to miss work.
My advice is to take it as it comes. I know that it is much easier said than done, but trying to figure it all out at the beginning will just frustrate and overwhlem you. It will all work out and if you need to miss some work at the end of the day it will all be worth it!

YES. To all of the above. I am in a perpetual state of being overwhelmed!!! I have made several posts regarding how stressed I was with work and scheduling all the appointments. I had 4 IUIs before this and finding so many excuses was incredibly stressful. I work in a rather small office, so its really hard to “hide” coming in late or leaving early without having to answer a hundred nosey questions.
This month I am starting IVF, which will require even more appointments etc. Just the thought of it was giving me anxiety. Although, I would have rather been dipped in $hit, then talk to my boss or anyone about my issues, I knew I HAD to tell my boss. Shockingly, it went better than I expected! I really just got to the end of my rope and knew I couldn’t go through IVF with the added stress of worrying about work. So I just laid it ALL OUT. The convo went something like this “my husband and I are having a hard time conceiving and we will be starting IVF…I will need to take time off for appointments… unfortunately my body dictates when, so I will not be able to give you proper amount of time before hand, but I will make up whatever needs to get done, I am committed to “such such” I intend to complete “such and such” …I appreciate your understanding blah blah blah….Although it was really hard, it made me feel A THOUSAND percent better, one less thing to worry about.
So if you can, talk to your boss, you will feel a weight being lifted. We have enough on our plates. GOOD LUCK to you!

It is very normal to feel frustrated.. I was overwhelmed my first cycle.. I would like to say that it gets easier but i think after a while you just try to relax when you can.
