Feeling sad
I just got the results back from DS's blood allergy tests. Still highly allergic to milk, but he's also developed an oat allergy. He's going to be so sad, he loves Cheerios.
I know in the grand scheme of things it's not that bad of a health problem, but I hate that everywhere he goes he is the kid who can't have what everyone else is eating.

Re: Feeling sad
Thanks for all the hugs. The new food allergy was so unexpected, I was totally unprepared to hear that.

Re: Feeling sad
Sorry! I feel your pain. DD has a Peanut Allergy. It is hard, but you will all adjust.
Wheat is a tough one, bit join FAN if you haven't already. You can find a lot of other food alternatives for him to enjoy.

Thanks! We've been dealing with his dairy allergy for a while now. I was just having a whiney moment.

Re: Feeling sad
I hear you! My kids do not have allergies but I have several friends whose children do including one who has 2 kids with entirely different allergies so I know the challenges are very hard in many situations. You're right, thank God in the big scheme of things it can be managed but I don't discount the struggles at all. Especially when they are smaller and don't understand WHY they can't have something. Is there another "O" cereal out there that is rice or corn that you can substitute to make the transition easier with the Cheerios?
Hang in there, I give you credit, like I said, I know it adds a huge challenge to their everyday living.
