fertility clinics
How many of you going to an RE see the actual doctor at every appointment. also please include which clinic you go to. I go to LI IVF and just finished 3rd cycle and have only seen the RE at the initial consult and then again for my HSG. I want to know if this is how it is at other clinics. thanks

Re: fertility clinics
I went to RSNY before coming to LI-IVF...At RSNY I saw a Dr. for IUI's and/or consults but not at each visit. The monitoring visits were basically the same at both - sono tech doing the sono, nurse drawing blood and then a phone call later in the day to tell me what meds to continue, etc.
The major difference I've noticed is that LI-IVF doesn't have sono techs, they are PA's and the Dr. himself calls with beta results. Also, when doing a consult at RSNY I saw different Drs. whereas at LIIVF I have only seen Kenigsberg.

Re: fertility clinics
I did IVF at Columbia. My RE was there for the initial consult and transfer. Everything else was done by another RE (i.e. morning monitoring, HSG, SHG, etc). The nurse would call with the beta results.

Re: fertility clinics
I always see a doctor at NSUH for each and every appointment. If my doctor isn't in, I see one of the others. The only time I did not see a doctor is when I had blood drawn and they don't do that anyway.

Re: fertility clinics
I see Dr. Flisser at RMANY every visit. The only time I didn't was when I went only for blood and an injectibles class on Labor Day.

Re: fertility clinics
When I was seeing Dr. Lydic he did every sono monitor and nurses called with beta results. When I was having a chemical, Dr. Lydic himself called. Dr. Lydic or Dr. Bronson did IUIs.
I now go to LI-IVF. I've only seen Dr. K probably 6 times since I've been there (started going in March).
I had 2 IUIs (same cycle) both done by Dr. Droesch. Every sono has been done by a PA. Had water sono, retrieval, transfer and D&C done by Dr. K.
As far as betas are concerned -- positive betas I got called by the nurses. Negative or bad news, I got called by Dr. K.

Re: fertility clinics
I go to east coast fertility. I love it there everyone is wonderful in that practice. I have Dr Zapantis there I usually don't see him much because I do my monitoring in mount sinai he is usually in plainview but after you get pregnant the RE is the only one to your sono's but as far as regular monitoring there is no real need to see the RE but he always makes himself available even after hours he is always there. I was in the ER after my first retrieval I ended up hyperstimulating he was on the phone with my dh checking up on me late at night. the next day i was to go see another Dr in the office for a check up and Dr Z came in to see me and then we found out that his wife was having a baby early that am. so not only was he on the phone with hubby while his wife was in labor he come in to see me after being up all night with his family...he is a wonderful and truelly caring Dr...
