Fertility Specialist/ RE needed in NYC
I just had my 2 miscarriage & would appreciate any recs on a Specialist in NYC.
Many of you have shared some of yours already, THANKS!! The problem is I have Blue Cross Blue SHield- and no-one in NYC takes it. If there is no one great I can find who does take it....I have no problem going out of Network then. But are all of these tests going to mean me laying out thousands of dollars and then having to wait to get reimbursed??
I have looked into Cornell Medical in NYC...any thoughts on Dr Rosenwaks or Dr Davis. I know they do not take my insurance.
I would love to see Dr Braverman but from what I heard he is only in NYC once a week. Will that become a problem once I am pregant b/c do they monitor you a few days a week? He does take Blue Cross Blue Shield.
Any advice or recs in NYC i would greatly appreciate.

Dr. Braverman is affiliated with American Fertility in NYC. You can also look into SIRM (The Sher Institute) where Dr. Braverman was before branching out on his own. RMA is also in the city (not sure how they are with recurrent loss) but is an outstanding practice as well.

Re: Fertility Specialist/ RE needed in NYC
I am a patient of the Sher Institute and so far I am really impressed with the nursing staff and Dr. Tortoriello.
I'm not sure if they take Blue Cross Blue Shield but I would give them a call.
Good luck

I have Empire Blue Cross Blue Shield and I saw Dr. Chung at Cornell. He takes the insurance...but just for office visits, etc...none of the actual procedures (IVF) were covered.

Re: Fertility Specialist/ RE needed in NYC
I am at Cornell and have Cigna insurance through my employer. My insurance covers IVF, but just because Cornell doesn't have a partnership with Cigna doesn't mean I am screwed. Cornell bills me and I bill Cigna. I get a check from Cigna and the next day, I send a check to Cornell. I have done one round of IVF and so far have paid less than $500 out of pocket (including meds and ER/ET and daily monitoring).
I don't think it matters if your clinic takes the insurance, it's more about whether your insurance covers infertility. Of course there is more paperwork if the clinic doesn't deal with Cigna, but in the end the cost is minimal.
As for the specific REs, I really don't think it matters. I haven't seen "my" RE in over a month since you get whoever is on call that day. That doc does the monitoring, ER and ET, and may or may not be your RE. In fact, Dr. Davis did my ER and he is not my regular RE.

I go to NYU Fertility-I really love them. I see Dr. Berkley. Everyone in their office is very professional. I am very sorry for your loss.

Re: Fertility Specialist/ RE needed in NYC
My best friend saw Dr. Rosenwaks at Cornell. She is on baby #2 through him, due in a couple of weeks. She had many many issues and he was able to overcome them. I know she would highly recommend him.
I was planning on seeing him if my last IUI cycle didn't work with RS of NY - but it did and I am now 27 weeks pregnant with my little girl! I have also had 2 m/c's - so please don't give up hope!!!

Re: Fertility Specialist/ RE needed in NYC
I went to Dr. Flisser at RMA of NY. I'm not sure if they take your insurance but I was very happy with the practice. Dr. Flisser also works at their LI office, so he is not in the NYC office every day of the week. However, because of monitoring, you wind up seeing every doctor any way. Other doctors at the practice only work in the NYC office. Also, they have good monitoring hours - 7:00 - 8:30.
ETA: I didn't see him for recurrent lost issues.

I was treated for recurrent losses by Dr Copperman and I'm 16 weeks PG now. Not sure about the insurance though...

I second RMA. Their office is on Madison & the 60s in NYC.
I don't know all the insurances they take: it may vary by Dr.

ditto- RMA of NY is great! I saw Dr. Grunfeld, but wound up seeing all the doctors. I'm 23 weeks pregnant from my first IVF with them.
