Fevers with Teething ?
Okay, so DS woke up last night at 2 am "cooking". His temp was up to 102.0 and I was scared to death. He broke his two bottom teeth through in the begining of the month. I have heard fevers come with teething...but that high of a temp? Has anyone exprerience this? I thought maybe a low grade temp of 99.0-100.0....but not 102!!! I called the doctor last night right then and there and she just told me to do "comfort" messures and ride it out. Well, this morning he still is running fevers, even with taking tylenol. I hate that this is happening on a weekend besides, because the doctors offices are all closed. If this continues into tomorrow, I just have to bring him into the ER. What is your ladies thoughts on this? Do you think it just might be the teething, or more of a virus or something.... no one has been sick that we are around.

Re: Fevers with Teething ?
That high of a temperature may be a virus or something. It's easy to pick them up anywhere...just going out in to stores and people sneezing or touching door knobs.
Tylenol also only relieves the temperature about 2 degrees and not completely. I would just him hydrated and watch for anything serious. Personally, I wouldn't go to the ER unless it was serious...fevers are a sign of the body fighting infection.
You can also give a cool bath to help bring down the temperature.
Temps are scary at first, but it will be ok.

Re: Fevers with Teething ?
I would just try to make him comfortable if its 102 or below. Fevers are good, b/c he is building immunities fighting whatever it is. If it hits a third day - than call your dr again
I heard somewhere that when teeth break and babies stick things in, bacteria can get into the broken skin and that's why fevers are associated with teething, but it really is an infection.

Re: Fevers with Teething ?
Jules had teething fevers, like 101 with her molars. One day was 102, broguht her in three weekends in a row, and they said she was not sick, no virus, no cold. It also gave her fluid in her hear. I know it doesn't help the situation at all, but it is common. I hated when people said it's "probably" teething because you want to know for sure, but it was common for Juliette...
