Filming movie in lower manhattan
I heard they are filming at night over the next few evenings.
Does anyone know if they will be filming over the weekend too?

Re: Filming movie in lower manhattan
Not sure about the weekend. Just heard about it on the radio this morning. Will Smith movie. BlackHawk helicopters, gunships and pyrotechnics near the Brooklyn Bridge. I'm sure that won't cause any traffic problems or tons of 911 calls...

My Dh works right where they are filming. I told him to try to get on the set. They pay extras, right?

Re: Filming movie in lower manhattan
It was in today's Newsday. It's a Will Smith movie - they closing down the Brooklyn Bridge at 4pm today to do some filing with Army, SWAT and National Guard (or something along those lines) - filming a movie based on a book about the end of the world.

They set up all the lights around downtown - in Brooklyn, at the Seaport, on the piers last night! It was quite exciting to see!

Re: Filming movie in lower manhattan
We got this email from my job:
have been informed by the New York Police Department that a movie production, “I Am Legend,” is operating in lower Manhattan from now through mid-February.
The production will use military-style helicopters, actors dressed in military uniforms and will simulate evacuations of lower Manhattan.
Most of the activity is expected to take place near the South Street Seaport and after 5:00 p.m.; however, you may see production activity and equipment in the neighborhood during business hours.

Definitely a slew of 911 calls.

This is what my company just sent us.
Local News - NYPD: Don't Be Alarmed by Filming at Brooklyn Bridge
The NYPD announced Monday film activities in the Brooklyn Bridge area. Beginning today at 4:00 pm, continuing on weekdays through the month of January, a movie is being made near the Brooklyn Bridge and will involve flood lighting, Army and Coast Guard helicopters, mock police and military vehicles and over 1,000 extras for an evacuation scene. The announcement was to alert the public that the scene is not an emergency.
