Final Update-had the transfer Horrible Fert. Report
I had my retrieval yesterday and they got 15 eggs. Throughout all my stimming the doctor was surprised with how well I was doing, and when they were monitoring me they counted up to 20 follicles. So I was surprised that they only got 15 but figured 15 is still awesome. Just got the call and of the 15 they got, only 6 were mature!!! They did icsi on all 6 and only 2 fertilized. I am devastated. This is my 6th ivf and I am running out of insurance-I know that seems terrible for those who are paying OOP but this is it for us, once the insurance is done we are done.
I just can't believe that only two fertilized. We are scheduled for a 3dt on Monday. Does anyone have any words of wisdom or advice? Should I ask for a 2dt? I am so upset!
Update: Had my transfer today. The embryos looked great according to the doctor, both were 8 cell 1-2 embryos, which he said was like an A or A-.
I was really mad b/c my husband took off to be with me and they wouldn't allow him in the room during the transfer! This has never happened before. Apparently, Dr. Kenisburg doesn't allow anyone in. He isn't my primary doctor, I deal with Dr. Kreiner who was away on vacation. The least they can do is let your poor husband be in the room while you get pregnant, as if this process isn't hard enough!
Just resting on the couch, praying these embryos stick! Thanks for all the support!
Final Update:
I never posted often on this board, but I always got support and answers when I did post, so I figured I would share our good news. From the horrible fert. report we got in February, getting 15 eggs and only having two fertilize, we are currently pregnant! I am just about 17 weeks, and we finally came out to everyone last week. We waited until we had our ultra screen and maternity 21 test done because we wanted to be able to tell our son first so he could spread the good news! We are over the moon excited, nervous-you name the emotion we have felt it during this roller coaster ride.
This pregnancy is the result of three and a half years of trying to conceive, three losses, six IUI's and six IVFs. Through all the IVF's we transferred a total of 14 embryos and this little fighter is the only one that stuck around! There is hope ladies!
Thanks for always answering my questions and lending support, it always made a difference and helped me keep fighting! :)

Horrible Fert. Report
First I'm sorry. I understand you are disappointed. You still have a chance with those 2 and I think a 3 day transfer makes sense. Has this happened with your previous IVFs? What is your diagnosis?
I too am running out of insurance and I will be doing my last IVF next month. It is definitely scary knowing its your last one.
Hoping your 2 do excellent and you get your baby! GL

I'm so sorry. I make many eggs as well and it turns out they are all crap. Hopefully your embies will do well in their natural environment.

Re: Horrible Fert. Report
Thanks so much for your response. I am unexplained infertility. I do have a son, he will be 6 next month, and we had absolutely no trouble conceiving him. We have now been trying for over three years, 6 IUI's and now in the midst of my 6th IVF. I have had two miscarriages and a chemical. The last miscarriage was from my last IVF and they did the testing on the tissue and the embryo had Trisomy 20.
Last IVF, they got 12 embryos, 10 were mature but they only did icsi on half of them. None of the other half fertilized and of the ones they did icsi on three fertilized and we transferred two. That resulted in the pregnancy that I miscarried.
Good luck to you! I wouldn't wish this experience on anyone. Glad this board is here to help!

I'm so sorry. Try to stay positive. It's quality over quantity. Hope those 2 are great quality and result in your next baby. Good luck and keep us posted.

I am so sorry for your losses. I am unexplained too and its so frustrating not knowing what is wrong. I totally understand. Did they think you would get more mature eggs? I wondering if they triggered you too soon. Have you been with the same RE the whole time? If so maybe get a second opinion. Have you tried different protocols? I just switched REs after 6 IUIs, 2ivfs, and a fet. I figure a new set of eyes and a new lab can do me some good. I hope your 2 embryos are good quality on day 3 and they make it!

I'm sorry! We are in the 2WW on our first IVF cycle. We had a low number of mature eggs and only wound up being able to transfer 1 embie. As other posters have said, it only takes one. Prayers for you that this cycle is a success!

Re: Horrible Fert. Report
Thanks so much for the support. This is my second RE. I was with Dr. Stelling at RSofNY for all the IUI's and the first four IVFs. We then moved on to Dr. Kreiner who did my last IVF and resulted in the pregnancy that I miscarried. My first miscarriage was from a natural pregnancy three years ago.
Dr. Stelling didn't change the protocol much b/c I was producing a decent amount of eggs. When I switched to Dr. Kreiner, he did change the protocol up a bit, no birth control pills put me on a lupron protocol and it worked and I got pregnant.
Since I got pregnant last time, we kept everything the same, the only difference was I started taking CoQ10, which he said was fine to take. The last monitoring appointment that I had, Dr. Kreiner cut my meds down b/c he said I was stimming like a 20 year old-I am 39. He actually said it was remarkable. I was really encouraged. I think my estrogen got a little high, so I am wondering if they did trigger me too soon. I guess time will tell. Last time, when I got pregnant, I only had three embryos by transfer time and we put back two, I got pregnant with a one. I guess I just have to keep the faith that everything happens for a reason and all it takes is one!
Thanks so much for letting me vent, I will keep you all posted!

Re: Horrible Fert. Report
I totally understand. I have had 2 miscarriages at 9 weeks and a chemical all from iui's. I just had my first egg retrieval on tues and they only got 6 eggs, 5 matured, 3 fertilized with icsi. I am now waiting for waiting to see if any made it to day 5. Have you thought about PGD testing? We are doing that bc of all the losses. It's a bit expensive but they will test 8 embryos for the initial price. Looks like I will be stimmimg for a few months in order to get that number :( I know its tough but as everyone said you only need 1!! Good luck

Horrible Fert. Report
When I got pregnant with DS, we got 11 eggs, 10 mature , only 3 fertilized with ICSI. One of the three was practically dying in the Petrie dish, so we were in a similar position. Just because only 2 fertilized, does not mean those two wont be great quality. You aren't out yet. Hang in there!

Update-had the transfer Horrible Fert. Report
Wow I never heard of them not letting DH in the room during transfer. I would be pissed if DH took off and he couldn't even come in. Glad your 2 embryos did well! GL

That's great quality!!! Best of luck.
Dh wasn't allowed in during any of my transfers either. That's RMA policy.

Update-had the transfer Horrible Fert. Report
I don't think any of the LI IVF doctors let husbands in. It is a sterile environment.
But YAY on such great embryos! Sticky dust coming your way!

When I did my last transfer there, they let him in. Can't remember the name of the doctor though, not my usual doctor. I just think its cruel, I mean your husband can be in the room when you are having a c section, why not then? It is what it is though, hopefully this will be the last transfer I do! :) Thanks for the support!
