Finally took the next step...
After almost a year of trying including one miscarriage, a d&c, and Asherman's Syndrome, I made an appointment with LI-IVF and went today.
They were amazing there and I am going to start IUI's next week. I am going in on Saturday to monitor my follicles with u/s and will probably start IUI on Sunday or Monday depending on when I get my surge...
I feel like a weight of the world has been lifted off my shoulders.....

Re: Finally took the next step...
thank you guys, i am trying not to get my hopes up.
has anyone ever heard of a natural (no clomid) iui cycle working on the first try?
he won't put me on clomid unless this does not work for three cycles....even though i wanted to take it to increase my chances of the iui working.

Re: Finally took the next step...
Of course IUI's can work without clomid, the two are unrelated.
Clomid is used, if you don't ovulate, or your hormones are out of balance. For instance if you have low progesterone.
I would get the IUI done ...and bd as much as I could before the IUI and after, if dh's count is fine. I would ask for a 7 dpo progesterone test after the IUI. Your progesterone level is a good indication whether or not you need clomid. However, the fact that you had a miscarriage, and asherman's syndrome, I would most definitely urge my physician to prescribe femara over clomid, if the time comes. You do not need anything thining out your uterine lining.

Re: Finally took the next step...
wow redstar, you are so knowledgeable!!...they are checking my progesterone on day seven and i myself was wondering if clomid would be the best choice for me as well.....(due to my lining issues)
for those who have had iui's.....did they tell you to have dh abstain from bd for 48 hours prior to the insemination?....if that is the case, won't we be losing some good bd'ing opportunities?

I think it depends on DH's sperm...if there are NO issues, then I think and many do BD before, even the night before with no probelms in count on the day of the IUI...
For us...we abstained for 4 days before and DH had a nice high count , when he went back a day and a half later for IUI # 2 , his count was less then half of the previous one...so we decided to use the 4 day rule, since my issue is cervical fluid and we werent really having much of a chance naturally, we wanted to go ahead and take full advantage of the iui....

Re: Finally took the next step...
It definitely has to do with dh's sperm. Most places do a s/a right away before any type of assistance. We didn't have to obstain before the IUI or after. How acidic your body is, can determine how hostile your cm can be. A diet high in acidic foods such as animal protein, sugar, caffeine, and processed foods tends to disrupt this balance. It can deplete the body of alkaline minerals such as sodium, potassium, magnesium, and calcium. If anyone is interested in how foods play a role in fertility, just let me know.

Re: Finally took the next step...

actually redstar - i am REALLY interested in how food plays a role in fertility. i have a book by zita west called "fertility and conception" and she talks some about it there.
here are the things i am doing different this month:
1. robitussin 2x a day (i have ewcm issues) 2. primrose oil 2x a day 3. green tea days 1-14 and red rasberry tea days 15-28 4. acupuncture the day prior to ovulation
i know, i am crazy - i am getting desperate.....

Re: Finally took the next step...
I also take evening primrose oil every day from the end of AF till O. I take 3 tablets though. One with every meal. I too, am not thrilled with my cm. I drink loads of water right around O time. I mean, I walk around with a bottle in my hands and constantly drink.
Robi, is good if you have the mucus but it seems to thick. Robi will thin it out. The water and the epo will help provide the mucus. Epo works to increase estrogen. I found alfalfa tablets to work well. In addition to all the above, I also take baby asprin, to help build up my lining and prevent any sort of blood clots. However, check with your doctor about that. It is used as a pre-cautionary method for miscarriage.
I have said this a few times but baby carrots are wonderful for CM and any drink with carrot juice. Trader Joe's sells a drink called Vitality, it's loaded with CJ. You can also get pure CJ at trader joe's. V8 splash and v8 juice are great as well. Betacarrotene/Vitamin A is great for cm. I have a list of foods that I am going to forum mail you that are great for building up the ph level in your body. Acidic foods create more of a acidic fluid in your body...they actually aren't so great for you for whatever condition you have. Usually acidic foods help you build fat cells and in the fat cells acid is release. So basically, that's why 'sugar, breads, dairy, animal protein, black tea, coffee, alcohol" etc are not really great to eat in excess. Calcium on the other hand is wonderful for building up the akaline in your body.
If you load up on fruits and vegetables and only eat about 4 oz of animal protein with lunch and 4 oz with dinner....you will reduce fat cells. Using skim milk instead of whole milk is another good way to avoid dairy.
The fluid in your vaginal wall is usually high in acid. It's a protection. It basically kills off anything that comes it's way, and unfortunately sperm is one of the things it can kill.
I am also going for acupuncture and I actually would recommend you go, around 6 dpo and possibly another time in your 2ww. Acupuncture increases blood flow, and the more blood you get going to your uterus, the easier it will be for implantation. Dr. Randine Lewis, has a book called "The Infertility Cure". It's about acupuncture and nutrition. I found it so inspirational. She even speaks about how she has prevented miscarriage. I think very little is being done to prevent miscarriages in western medicine.
I think what you are doing already is great. !!! That sticky pg is coming !

Again Michele you have awed me with your knowledge. Please FM me with the "bad" acidic foods as well.
