finding a gardener (to cut lawn)
Most of the houses in my neighborhood are on tiny plots of land where the house basically takes up the entire plot so there is no need for a gardener. I've got two plots so the plot without the house is small, but there's still a lawn that needs mowing. I tried looking stuff up in the whitepages but everything is just landscapers, not people who will mow the lawn. Any other ideas on how to find someone? I live in East Rockaway.

There's no standard in terms of what they will do and what they will not do. You need to tell them what you want and they will decide if it's worth their time. Talk to someone in your neighborhood who currently uses a landscaper. Most landscapers who are in the area will be more willing to do the work for you. For instance, if no one uses landscapers in the area at all then finding one that will make a trip to cut a small area on a weekly or bi-weekly basis might not be worth their time. Good Luck!
