Finding a Mother's Helper...
So I'm considering getting a mother's helper a day or two a week. I am getting so overwhelmed with stuff that needs to be done around the house, etc...and it's really hard to do now that Alex is crawling all over the place & DH is literally NEVER home, his work hours are totally insane.
Can anyone recommend some good ways to go about finding one? I guess I can post at the local h.s., library? My problem is I just have some trust issues with strangers & my kid (especially teenagers ). I guess as long as I'm home with them in the beginning I can check them out first, but still.
I'm trying to ask around, but no one I know has any recommendations as of yet.
For those that had mother's helper's- how did you find them? TIA.

Re: Finding a Mother's Helper...
A friend of mine found one through the local high school. She would come a couple of times a week after school for a few hours. She was a Godsend! My friend was very happy with her. Now she graduated & got a higher paying job. My friend was so bummed.

Re: Finding a Mother's Helper...
I had one for a few weeks during the summer. I advertised in the local paper and found a young girl who lived on the next street over. She was only 14 and very sweet. I never left her alone with my daughter as I am plain neurotic.
She played with her but when she got cranky I had to come out as I hated to hear her cry and the young girl wasnt too good at settling her when she was cranky.
It might be harder to get one now as they are all at school but you might find one who will come to you after school or on weekends.
Good luck

Re: Finding a Mother's Helper...
My 19 year old cousin is my mother's helper. She only comes six hours a week, 3 on Tuesdays and 3 on Thursdays. Those two days where I get three solid hours after work to get stuff done are PRICELESS! Where do you live? I can see if any of her friends do this also.

Re: Finding a Mother's Helper...
What hours will you need? What age of a mother's helper are you looking for?
My family knows a ton of people in your area.

Re: Finding a Mother's Helper...
Have you considered posting at the local colleges. I think most of them have students going for child care/teaching.
