I am not sure if I have seen Sailboats there - but we go to Sailers Haven quite often

Re: fire island + marinas
I don't think the bay is deep enough for sailboats???
I have never seen a sail boat at fire island
we take a powerboat- and it can be tricky getting there from where we go out of- we have gotten stuck on sand before- the depth can go from 20 feet to 2 feet in a matter of seconds
I would do some research on this

I agree
I know I have seen sailboats in the Connequot river - but I am not sure if I have seen them anywhere else.

My Aunt and Uncle live on the water - they take their sail boat to Fire Island all summer long.

Re: fire island + marinas
Watchill is a marina and has bathrooms with showers - but I WOULD NOT shower there. However, there are bathrooms.

Re: fire island + marinas
I used to be a dockmaster at a marina on Fire Island. There are places you can go, although you need to pay attention to your draft as there as some spots that will be to shallow. The first place that comes to mind is Kismit. You can go to The In (or maybe it is the Out) and dock there, however, they do not include water. Sailor's Haven has a small marina (I think like 50 or so boats) this marina does have electricity, showers, restrooms and water. It also has a pump out station (if you have a head on your boat). Atlantique is another marina. It has about 200 slips and also has water, electricity, shower, restrooms and a pump out station. If you are not a resident of the town of Islip you will only be allowed to dock from late sunday night thru early friday morning.l Weekends are for residents only. Fire island pines also has a marina, I believe it has electric and water but not sure about the rest as I don't think I ever stayed there (at least have no memory of it). Cherry Grove also has a marina which has water and electric service. Some weekends are impossible to get in (such as the weekend of the "Miiss" Fire Island contest. I believe it is a first come first served basis and does not depend on residency. Davis Park is another one, it is run bu the town of brookhaven. Has all you are asking for (water, electric, restrooms etc) Last I can remember is Watch Hill Again, has water, ectricity and all that. Some marina's will charge by foot (length) some will charge by berth (width of your stern) and others will charge extra for electric or whatever.

Re: fire island + marinas
Deb is right....and I have definitely seen sailboats at Watch Hill, Sailors Haven, Kismet, Atlantique and Davis Park.
As far as the others she mentioned...I don't remember seeing sailboats there, but I could be wrong.
Good luck...Sailing is awesome and the boats have soooooooooo much more room compared to powerboats.
